John Madden

Coach Madden passed away yesterday at 85. I always liked him. Good coach and good sports broadcaster too.

Re: John Madden

I hardly watch the NFL anymore, but in the 80's and 90's I certainly enjoyed watching games with Madden and Pat Summerall in the booth.

Re: John Madden

His accomplishments were just mentioned on the news. I had forgotten all those Madden sports games. He was fun to listen to even if not about the game. Boom!

Re: John Madden

I read that he made one major mistake. He was offered as much stock has he wanted of the company that produced the Madden game. It is the only video game to sell over a billion copies. He said "you can have my name, but you can't have my money."

I literally grew up listening to him. He was truly a larger than life character.

Re: John Madden

Football fans that are too young to remember John Madden as a coach and a commentator, and the Monday Night Football crew from the 70's and 80's really missed out on amazing football history.

Personally I gave up all sports a couple of years ago when they politicized them. I feel pretty blessed I was there when it was still just sports with an occasional "dissent"

John Madden ... Now here's a guy. I hope you read that in his voice haha!

Re: John Madden

I just remember that when he was the commentator, he just saw so much more going on in the game than anybody else did. It's a sad loss.

He definitely had a way of making the game even more interesting.

Then you have guys like Tony Romo, who try to tell you every single damn play before it happens... and I'm like, just stop dude. Stop.
