Re: Need Ideas "Boring Glove Box Door"

The chromed door with the insert does look great and is similar to what I meant in my first post about using a Cheyenne Super glove box door trim panel and adding a black insert. That way you keep your original door and SPID intact by simply sticking the trim panel over your existing door. Plus it is reversable.

Now if you have not moved your 'vette emblem here is a photochopped relocation for your consideration.

+1 just about the cleanest look, with second being the Chevrolet emblem in the lower corner, IMO. These trucks have beautiful unique dashes, and its really easy to get carried away.

Ok, you convinced me.
I'm going to move it. When I get time I'll do the chrome with the black camera finish.

Re: Need Ideas "Boring Glove Box Door"

I havent seen it done on our trucks, but I have seen Stacy David use guitar puckguard material as a background for some gauges on the dash of a car he built. I have always thought that it would be cool to have some cut to work on my gauge bezel and another to match for the glovebox door. Something like this:

One company I know of for sure that sells flat sheets of pickguard material is www.warmoth.com. they have pearloid, tortishell, and solids in a variety of colors, and layers. You can pick up a white black white three layer for instance, to give the rim a black pinstripe.

Re: Need Ideas "Boring Glove Box Door"

DT1, how about having a vinyl photo made for the GB door at a sign shop? You could have any picture you want made in vinyl, trim it out, and just stick it on the door. If you got tired of it, it will peel right off. You could even put the cool Chevy emblem on top.

That's funny, How about a pic of the inside of the GB. That way you don't have to open it up to see what's inside.

If they were made up in vinyl with a magnetic backing, you could change it everyday.

Okay Bruceman, the overlay with the inside of the glovebox is funny. I can see a spouse breaking her nails as she tries to reach in there!

Re: Need Ideas "Boring Glove Box Door"

I used a Cheyenne Super insert and painted the vinyl part with spray in bedliner to match the texture of the driver's side and used a '67 - '68 emblem on my '69 C-10.

I like the last one as well, but would like it to be 1/2 as long.
