unbolt it slide 2 2x4s under it bolt it to the 2x4 and have four people take it off. I usually just do it with two people and slide iti off the backe though. Make sure you have the tailgate open and watch bending the tailgate seal bracket.

I unbolt it and slide a 2X6 under bothe the front and rear. Tie a good quality rope (I use 550 cord) around each end of the 2X6 and thread thru a truss/hook/pulley attached to the garage ceiling. lift up on the top and pull down on the rope, securing the other end to the 2X6 also. Work your way around the 4 corners, doing a little at a time.

Hope this makes sense! a picture would be worth 1000 words here.

Paul

I'll me a smart #ss and say use a 2x10.:p

The 2x4/2x6 is the right idea though.

Ohhh Iwas going to make a smart comment after seeing a Jeep hard top all over I 75 this weekend but you wanted to use it again.

2x4's dont work if you have a full cage.
I have a retaining wall next to my house that's bed level. I wad up a packing blanket under the front of the roof so I can lift it from the back and slide it on the roll cage. Then I get under it and walk it off the truck on my back to waiting cinderblocks.

Bunch of wimps that can't get a LIGHTER 69-72 off by yourself when I do a 75 top a couple times a year.

If my truck fit in my garage I would rig a U shaped bracket to hook the sides of the top to lift it from.

Yeah it's about 45lb lighter then a 73-75. Its about 30 inches shorter and no beefed area at the front. A 76-91 is around 160-175 dependining on the windows. 73-75 is around 230.

I know a 73-75 is heavier then a 69-72 single wall. Might be about the same as a double wall because of the flip up tail gate.

help

it was alot of work but worth it. i welded a 6' x 6' steel angle frame ran cable down to 2 x 8 boards with quick release ends [ like the ones climbers use ] and a electric winch to pull it to the ceiling. tied it up secure just in case.
