Identifying a hole in my floor
Hi All, I was hoping someone on here could help me identify this hole in the floor of my 59. More importantly, can someone help me identify a plug for said hole?

I dont think so...Was the hydromatic just a GMC thing? The LMC catalog shows the same hole, but they also told me they dont sell a filler for it.

Dang, that one got me last night. Yuppers, for sure the stomp pedal hole, this one covered with a piece of galvanized tin.

you could fab your own formed metal patch pretty easily that fits into the hole with a raised perimeter edge thatcould be glued to the floor with urethane sealer, like windshield caulking. thats if you cant find a rubber grommet. otherwise, find a rubber grommet that if slightly larger and simply expand the hole to fit the grommet. or fab a ptach that fits the hole and weld it in.

go to a truck tire repair shop ang grab a couple of patches and glue one on from each side if youre not worried about the look.

There have been many request for a "grommet" plug for that hole. With many threads with folks looking for one. over many years.
Don't believe they are to be found. So I would just plan on making a patch/plug/weld/Glue to meet your need. |

Its nice to hear I'm not the only one who has struggled to find out what it was AND want a plug for it. I found a patch option on amazon.... Im going to give it a try! Guess and Check and Repeat.

I thoughtof those plugs, they are used in front floor areas and trunk areas in sedans, but thought they were usually too small for that hole. worth a try though. easy enough to fab up one for your needs too. they are usually glued in.

The plug on Amazon looks like the right shape. There are also repros of OE plugs with tabs: https://www.chicagomusclecarparts.com/products/918731
Urethane is a great adhesive and it's good at filling gaps. Once you open the tube it begins to cure and it can only be stored for a short time before the entire tube is cured. I'd look for smaller tubes from one of the big box stores. Even better, they're available in different colors. |

The shape of the amazon plug was pretty good. I'll end up trimming it just a touch i think. Thanks for all the info and help. I entered the truck (as a long shot) in the small automotive section of our yearly MotoShow and they accepted it. So now im in a scurry to seal up a few of the long outstanding issues.
