Re: made2drag 95

thanks. the new glass is in and im going to limo it. right now im thinking about shaving the gas door and trying to find the best way to mount another door of some type in the bed. im going to shave the passenger door handle and leave the driver door handle so i may leave the gas door as it is too. but the passenger side will be smooth for sure.

Re: made2drag 95

i remounted some 73-87 c10 front shocks...you can see the old shock compared to the new shock and angle. i used the mounting bolts that came in the boxs and welded them to a piece of tubing and then welded to the frame and then boxed around them (i didnt take pics of the boxing)
the end result is a really good ride from the shocks.

Re: made2drag 95

still have to slide the bed forward some and bolt it on tight. but the ride is great and i got about 8 or 9 inches in the rear. it already had 2 inch drop shackles and from my measurements i had 6 inches between the frame and axle and now the axle is about a half inch through the c notches. the axle does hit frame on big bumps. i have to raise my carrier bearing due to a slight vibration at 10 -15 mph and some around 45-55. kits i see have a 2 inch spacer, since i welded my axle pads on at 0 degrees im going to try 1 inch first and see if that fixes it. its almost like its vibration from having to cut part of my exhaust. i may lengthen the exhaust to reduce "drone" before messing with the carrier bearing. all in all it came out like i wanted it. cost was 11 bucks for the axle pads and 20 for each shock.....but 20 hours of labor. a flip kit would have taken half as long or less.

funny...both times i took pics, it was raining.

Re: made2drag 95

found some used goodyear run flats
95% life left for $110 each shipped. they would have been $439 each new.
i think they will end up going on the front so i can put a slightly taller tire on the rear...maybe a 275/40/20 will be slightly wider and slightly taller for the rear.

i plan on putting the tires i have on the rear on the front....

buying 2 inch drop spindles, hopefully mcgaughys or djm

3 inch coils....not sure which yet....(open to suggestions since this is my first C/K)

i'd like to get a 3 inch coil that actually gives you more than 3

i may cut 1 coil off my stock springs and change the tires up front so i can make it look alittle better while saving up for new spindles and springs

in the end, i'd like to get 6 inches in the front somehow and still have a good ride and clearance for this truck, since it is my daily....and my kids ride in it everyday

thanks, imo anything was better than the 24's it had....i thought they were billet when i was talking to the guy about trading.... bonus: chrome with the billet look.

i think i remember these about 10 years ago when centerline was selling chrome billet look 20's for like 200 each.

they remind me of intro's

thanks! i had roughly 3 degrees at every measurement before i started. while dropping it and when i put the axle in the saddles i adjusted by pushing up or down on the rearend until my angle finder was close to 3 degrees at the transmission and into the carrier bearing. i was trying to get the 3 degrees at the rearend but after a couple tries with the jack moving and pushing and pulling and retightening and looseing the u bolts....i just decided 0 degrees was good enough. with the bed on and everything on the ground i obviously needed to raise the bearing some and had 2 1/4" plates....i tried them and they ended up working. hows your sub going?
