Re: *Retirement Approching Fast*

4+ yrs since 62

I've got so much that can be done around our place that for a while I almost wanted to go back to a job just to take a break. No problem getting up in the morning because the horses expect to be fed.

My mom had a stroke about 5 months in and everything seemed to revolve around her after that until now I am dealing with her estate. I keep hoping things will get back to some sort of "normal" while I am still alive and active.

Sorry about your the passing of your mom. I'm sure that was hard.

It was hard to watch her struggle with extreme disability for almost four years.

Re: *Retirement Approching Fast*

I am 56. I have worked for myself since 1990. I figure that I cannot even think about retirement until 65 and medicare. Everything is paid for including college for my daughter.

My Dad worked for me driving a delivery truck until he was 74. He said he was afraid to retire because he worried he would not have a reason to get up in the morning. His only hobby was his Harley. When he was hit by an idiot and suffered for months in recovery it took it from him. His worries have come to life. I am painfully watching his decline.
Stay active and busy. Your mind and body require it.
