1974 OEM steel wheels BS

Hello all,

I want to install stock OEM steel wheels (and hubcaps) on my '74 c10, I can't seem to find a good set mine came with aftermarket wheels. I've been looking at Vintiques website and although they do offer them, I don't know what BS I need for it to be like stock.

I've done a Back Spacing search on multiple forums and all have come up asking about BS on custom wheels not stock steelies. Can someone please confirm BS on stock 15" wheels?

Thank you.

Re: 1974 OEM steel wheels BS

Most of the stock wheels from this era are 50/50. So if rim is 7" wide, then BS is 3.5, 6" would be 3" BS and 8" ralleys are 4". Not always, but normally this is how it goes.

Is your plan stock width as well (6" wide)?

6" wide wheels were 3.75" BS from what I remember. But, the wheel I last measured was a 'stock' 5x5 pattern GM steelie from who knows when. That number get's you in that range.

If you go wider, BS is usually adjusted accordingly so it can differ.

Re: 1974 OEM steel wheels BS

Great, that's the exact info what I was after!

I wish my truck would have had the stocks on there, oh well now I know what to look for and make any BS adjustments I might need to get the look (stocki'ish) I'm after and take the 20" off.

Thank you!

I might go with 7" instead of 6".
