I have owned at least one of every year and style but 67-68's are my favorites. The only thing I don't like about 67's are the small back windows. The 67-68 GMC's look great without the grill header bar and fender trim along with the sloped hood. The 67 GMC grill looks great with the logo stamped in it and a fresh triple chrome plating job. It looks oldschool because there is no plastic in it. 71-72's are awesome because of the front disc brakes. Good thing it's easy to add them to a 67-70. My 72 Blazer is going to get a 67 Chevy frontend. The headlight bezels and grill trim was better in 67 than 68 because it was steel opposed to aluminum. It also looks fantastic with a really nice plating job.

I think the '67-'68 is a style that will go down in history as one of the best. I really like the sloped back hood and the small rear window is distictive. When you are driving and see a late model S-10 or even some of the full size pickups from a distance you will see the styling influence in the grill area from the '67-'68s.

67-68 just look smooth
I also like the 69-70 better then the Gmc and 71-72 Because it has the Big cross bar it really adds to the look the egg crate looks too plain I have a feeling with in the next few years they will start making inserts and such for the 69-70 which will make it look even better

71-72 cause they have disc brakes,5 lug,and most of the time power steering already.But then I have 2 GMC's so the grill isn't that big of a deal:p

I like the 67-68 grilles the best,I am always hoping to latch onto a 67-68 chevy SWB,just can't find one I can't get a hold of yet.Seems like this is GMC country around here

I got my 72 because it was given to me. I always liked the 69-70 grill,I guess because dad had a 69 when I was growing up...

Like the GMC grill best, but of the Chevys I like the 69-70 grill and will swap out the 72 grill on my 71 for a 70 grill shortly. Never really cared for the slope of the hood on the 67-68s but like the grills.

1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

Keep the plastic, look OK but breaks way too easy. All metal is the best! The 67-68 hoods are stronger due to the diff. slope and have my vote even though I have 2 -72s.
Have to love the GMC grills.

Mr. Bradley designed the '67 Chevy. It is the smoothest pickup in existence IMO.
All of the others are mods to a DAM good start. The '68s are a close second, but I don't like the marker lts and big back glass......
I own a '67 and a '68, both shortys, with disks, drops, fat tires etc.
The grill design flows into the rest of the truck.
I wouldn't turn down a '72 cst for the right $$. I can change front sheetmetal.

I saw the production numbers a few years ago, can't remember exact numbers, but there was a considerable number of more 72's produced than 67's...but it was a progression, each year produced more trucks than the last. I think the 67 is the best looking truck....no turn signals. I happen to own a '67, crazy, huh?? Next would be the 71-72. Sorry 69-70 but it seems that a lot of people are swapping the 69-70 grill for a 71-72 and it seems that even more people are swapping the 69-72 front clip for a 67-68 clip...especially on blazers and subs.....just my .02 on what I've seen in mags. and tv shows. I may like the 67 looks better but I would proudly own any year of these trucks!!!

Also, just to show I'm not totally biased, between my father and I, we own a 67, 68, two longbed 69's, one of which is a bad ass 4x4 with a 4" lift, and a '72 1 ton flatbed.

The question was "What is more desireable? " so I assume you mean to the general public. Most of these guys are answering from an owners perspective, which is going to be rather biased in favor of the truck they own.
From a NON 67-72 owner let me throw my opinion out there.

67-68 - "more desireable" for the custom crowd. When someone wants a truck to smooth out and lower this is the favorite style.

71-72- "more desireable" for the restored truck buyers. They had many of the options available that the later trucks offered, making them more desirable for the collector type owners.

69-70 "more desireable" for the average Joe truck owner. This good looking style gets skipped over by the other crowds leaving it for the guys that just want a good looking truck that can be used and/or abused.

Just "my" opinion, so let the flaming begin....

NOT 72's!

Around here 72's still have to have emissions test (and meet the same emission standards as a 1980 vehicle), so although I really like them, I wouldn't buy one. A 71 would be a lot less work and trouble.

What Is More Desireable?

My bias is to the short step bed for its utility! I grew up with a '67 C-20 loaded but without air and a Holmes tow truck conversion in the bed but alas rusted out after 15 years of Michigan winters (salted roads) and find myself owning 2 1967 short step beds...........one an all original and the other hot rodded with later V-8 motor/muncie 4speed/power steering/posi/big wheels-tires/lowered etc. SHOULD i KEEP MY ORIGINAL TRUCK ORIGINAL? (250-6/Granny 4speed/deluxe heater/4.11 posi) Or modify with V-8/auto/PS etc. I know original trucks are hard to find and this truck is original and has very little rust! Share your thoughts please?

If you are going to completely redo one from the ground up, it is easy enough to put 71-72 axles under an older one, if you can get the parts reasonable. I like the 67-68's best, and knowing what I know now, would have rather bought a 68 and added the 71 or 72 components to it. If I were not rebuilding it completely, and wanted to drive and fix it up over time, I would DEFINITELY get a 71-72 because of the disc brakes/power brakes and five lug axles.

Its like asking me if I like blondes, brunettes or redheads, if I had to choose I would choose a red head (they are always funner) but its hard to choose my favourite era of truck, the 67' look sweet with the small window and no side marker lights, the 69-70 trucks look like they are happy and grinning from ear to ear, and the 71-72's came with more pimped out interiors, I seriously couldnt decide to tell you the truth
