Body Mounts Question

This question may belong in the body work section but are the body mounting bolts supposed to be tacked down to the tub? Mine were spot tacked on the top of bolt to the tub and lock nutted on the bottom. The tub was rhino lined by the PO so I was wondering if that has some thing to do with it. Is this a good idea as I am replacing the mounts?

Re: Body Mounts Question

Tacked body mount bolts is factory stuff.

I wouldn't re-tack the new bolts after you replace the mounts. Some blue-loctite on the nuts would be a good idea.

Re: Body Mounts Question

Mine were tacked too, made it kinda a pain in the @ss to remove. I went and got a cheap northern tool air chisel and that made quick work of them after a little learning curve.

Re: Body Mounts Question

Well got em all swapped out, the passenger side front was completely roached and the floor pans were installed on top of the cab mounts. A half day turned into a full day and to top it off now the doors are so far out they wont even let me close them without a lot of effort. Then they wont let me back in of course so its parked now. Fix one thing and the sins of the PO are revealed! Next question, (I will post as a new thread also) where do I go now? I assume hinges and fenders must be removed to correct alignment.
