Re: Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

Just so everyone knows, since a TON of people have been asking, I will be working on coming up with a bracket for the 93-9? Camaro calipers that have an e-brake. No promise as to when they will be ready, but my guess is about a month.

Re: Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

Thanks for the pics, Ram-Man! My supplier informed me today that they are out of stock, and won't have the adapters for 5-7 days. I'll let you know when they come in.

pcmcobra - When things slow down, I will see what I can do. It may have to be a one-off set, but I will see what I can come up with after things get settled down here.

As glock said, I have confirmed that the Impala brakes will fit behind a Rally wheel. Glock's brackets are a steal considering trying to make these things yourself.

About how much total for the swap, including the parts needed? I would like to have an idea before I jump on board. Are you able to retain an ebrake with this style? about the oem brakets needed, can you buy them or is it bone yard only?

Re: Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

Well it depends on if you're going to use all brand-new parts or not. I'm looking at ~$450 using rebuilt calipers, new caliper brackets (they are available), slotted & cross-drilled rotors, the CPP prop valve, new hoses, banjo bolts, etc.

I've not seen anything about an e-brake with this set-up.

Randy
Alvin is pretty much spot-on. I have figured around $350-$450 with new parts. There is a core on the calipers, so look on eBay and boneyards for a cheap set to use for cores. Or if they are in good enough shape you can rebuild them. I do include a list of items needed along with part numbers and where to go. The Impala/Caprice does not use an e-brake on the caliper. And the OEM bracket is available at most all parts houses. I included a part number from www.rockauto.com because they have the best price, but I know the Parts America (Checker/Schucks/Kragen) also stocks them.

If you really want an e-brake, I have a set of Camaro calipers soming to use for designing a bracket for them too. They do have on integral e-brake.

Re: Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

Sweet!! They look great! You may need to sand a little powder coating off on the inside of the large hole, as the first batch were fitting kind snug to the axle flange. Just an FYI.

Like I said earlier in this thread, when things slow down a little, I will look into making a couple sets.

Only the distribution valve needs replacing & not the master cylinder?? I thought you would need a disc/disc m/c instead of a drum/drum....

Re: Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

I was under the impression you could run the same m/c (and some board members have). Drum/drum brakes require an equal volume of fluid since the wheel cylinders are almost equal, and the disc/disc would be very similar too.
