Thanks all. Little guy is getting more used to being awake during the day and mom is getting a little more sleep (I literally sleep through everything, but I'm still keeping him until 1am to help mom get some sleep.)

I did not finish the back. Trying to balance time between work/shop and little guy. I'm trying to spend time with baby/mom until 11 am then I'm calling it quits around 5pm. This is really motivating though, it's coming out better than my house (my house soffit/eaves were crooked as piss and I did my best to make them "appear" straighter)

The front scaffold is DOWN though! It will only go back up as a single height for siding. Once the back is done no more "high up"!

Next weekend I'm going to finish the back and we're going to do a family day for some fall thing, either something with pumpkins or apples, or both. Might start on the siding on the left side...

Looking good on the extra space. Little one's are a blessing but those first few weeks to first few months can be tough on everyone. I took a shift with our little ones just like you. Instead of one not getting any rest both of you get at least a little.

Mine are both in college now and the things you think will never end are just memories you laugh about and sometimes miss.

He went on his first roadtrip up to NC this weekend. Slept the whole time. We went to one of those apple picking places, Skytop Orchard.

Little progress. I finished the back up and got all of my measurements and lines for my siding. I was within 1/8" to all corners. Wohoo!

I squared up the doors a little better and did all the shimming. I didn't get to installing the new brick molding. I need to get it up and painted, then the siding can go up

I also gave big girl her first real bath where I took my time in a long time. I even cleaned out the bed. I removed at least 6-700 POUNDS in crap. Mostly old roofing materials I never used.

I feel terrible, but all of my vehicles have been so neglected. This project is dragging on and on. I don't think I've put more than 500 miles on the C10 in the last year. It's usually a few thousand a year. I also typically put 4-5K+ on the Mustang (my wife loves that car) and I've put maybe 7-800 on that too. The Corona hasn't helped much either...

The new soaps and pressure washing really helps. The pressure washer doesn't leave behind the big fat water drops a regular hose/nozzle does, so there's almost zero water marks after a wash. The pressure washer makes the droplet size so small the water evaporates quickly and evenly, especially in shade. It's also a lot faster than the old hose/nozzle method.

The color is 2015 Deep Ocean Blue Metallic. It's actually really close to my old 2000 Z71's Indigo Blue Metallic. I think GM tweaks their colors a touch every few years and renames them. I wanted this color or the Brownstone Metallic (kinda like a rootbeer color), but it was really hard to find the truck I wanted in that color back then.

I'm also going to have to extend my building permit for the 2nd time Who builds something from start to finish in 6 months?

I really wanted that dark brown they did for a few years...but when I bought my 13 they didn't offer it anymore , so I settled on white...

Oh man, I bought a relatively cheap MATCC soap Cannon for the pressure washer and it’s an absolute game changer.

I might have to buy one of those. I tried to use the soap dispenser attached to my pressure washer, but man, it burned through a whole bottle of car wash on just my truck, so I bought one you attach to a regular hose. It works well, but I have to rinse the truck down, then swap the hose to the soap dispenser gun, then back to the pressure washer. The truck is so big I have to do this a few times. It would be nice to have one attached to the pressure washer that doesn't burn through a whole bottle of soap on one truck.

Not much to report. Did some more cleaning up and reorganizing. The breeze that pulls through the garage can be pretty chilly this time of year, so I installed a back door Saved $1500!

I got the two side doors almost ready for paint. I ordered a tin cap that will fit over the brick molding for these and all of the garage doors.

I also used some of the roofing tin to cover up the bottom gap. I shimmed the crap out of the sills so they're solid enough to stand on. I love the plastic shims available now a days. Getting these painted are the last hurdle to completely siding this whole side. My parents are coming down in a month, I'd like to have this side done before they get here. It also sucks, but when I'm done and have the landscaping finished I'm going to have to repaint the block. That red clay is the devil. My pressure washer can't get it all back off. I also had to repair a couple damaged areas (hence fresh paint in 2nd pic). Where we drilled out the block for the ground wire... and I accidentally got a concrete screw too close to the outside and damaged a small area

And again... my phone made the doors look like fun house doors. I have an 8' straight edge I check everything with... they're straight.

That's funny what your phone does...every time I see those door pics I start saying ( no no no, that wont work..!!)..
like the garage door..when I built my shop I went for a couple yrs without doors..sure was glad when I got them installed..

Work has sucked lately. I think everyone is panicking about what could happen in January and trying to cram in as many projects before the end of the year as possible. I worked through a couple weekends to try and get caught back up (weather sucked anyway - rainy).

Also keeping busy with the little guy and the weather has been warm but a lot of rain. It seems we're getting hurricane left overs almost weekly.

Anyway, finally some progress. I got the door jams finished and painted. I also bought these really cool flashing caps (cut to fit). I have enough to do all of the shop doors and the house garage door. The "regular" doors on the house all have a roof right above them and the windows are sealed channeled units already, but the walls and roof are SO HIGH on the shop I wanted a little extra rain protection.

And my phone made the door look like it's on slim fast

I was hoping to get this side done because my parents will be here this weekend, oh well. They can only make it down every year or two. Looking good though.

Once again, I realized how ridiculously large this thing was as the height of the siding in the first pic is all I could reach comfortably on the ground.

I'll have to do a couple rows by step ladder then I can set up my scaffold to make the rest easier.

It happens, but nothing like home

We get this every couple of years, but the longest it lasts is 3-4 days.

2017 back when the house was still piss yellow. I think this storm dumped 8-10" on us. This was early in the day, it ended up snowing all day and night again. This was probably the most snow I've seen at once since I moved here. We usually only get a dusting on two each winter up to an inch or two. There was another storm in 2018 that was 5-6". We had two storms last December that dropped 2-3" each. The last few years have been pretty snowy, comparatively. The fist 4/5 years I moved here I never saw snow.

I know how slow it is sometimes when your doing things solo...but keep a eye on your house wrap..it can get moisture behind it and that osb will fall apart...when I built my shop (solo) I had to replace a couple of pieces due to water damage where it got behind that wrap

Yep, it can definitely get damp. I left 1/8" gaps around all edges for air to move in and out. The wrap billows in and out under any kind of breeze.

I actually did have to replace a couple of the first sheets I installed from not getting them covered up fast enough. Holy crap do I use a lot of nails. I had to use a sledge hammer and knock the snot out of them to get those sheets off.

I replaced 4 or 5 sheets on my house when I redid the siding for the same reason, not enough nails and it got wet (from original builder).

It's pretty easy to tell when moisture is behind the wrap (you can actually see it). It's all stayed pretty dry unless we got some kind of sideways down pour. I won't put any siding up when it's wet. I actually prefer to finish a side all the way up when the weather is good, just didn't work out this week. Now that I've started and have all my lines marked and corners/doors framed, I should be able to finish this side quickly.

It will also be a couple of months before I get any insulation done, so that should aide in drying everything out before it's fully closed.
