Why post?
Ive been catching up on some threads, and its not really a big deal, I was just wondering, why post?
Post subject is whatever it is. First few answers or thoughts, right on topic. And then it spirals. "While not having anything to do with the actual question/post, here is my ... (whatever it is). Happens a lot over on the 67-72 main area. Show me your, green truck, blue truck, lifted truck, lowered truck, fuel injected truck, 3/4 ton truck, you get my drift ... For awhile it stays 67-72, which makes all the sense in the world to me since it is the 67-72 part of the board. And then an off topic shows up ... While not a truck and not the color you were asking about, my 67 bug was originally the color you were asking about before it was painted red. If you look in the glove box you can see where it used to be pickle green like you were asking to see. I dunno, its just weird. Heck I suppose if you check through every post Ive ever made Ive probably done it too ... Im such a hypocrite |

Re: Why post?
Much like this very post here. It will go somewhere and who knows? People, everyone has a different attitude, background in life, experiences etc. Hence the way various people communicate. They see or hear or understand things differently than you or I. I went through a communication class once explaining this. Once I was through with it I realized that it is amazing that we can communicate at all. So when I tell someone what to do I usually end my statement with "how do you feel about that?". 1. because no one ever gets asked how they feel and it gets them to think and answer more than just "okay". and 2. because I can get them to tell me what 'they think' they heard. Which may be different than what 'I think' I said.

Re: Why post?
Good point............
I noticed the same thing...and I'm guilty too....sometimes. To me it seems like the longer a thread goes....the more apt it is to happen. We seem to be in such a hurry.......... that we only read a few posts that have been recently added............. and those have already drifted off topic. I TRY to look at the original post....IF the thread isn't 25 pages long....but, I have spent countless hours looking through an ENTIRE thread too....

Re: Why post?
We once owned a pickle-green Triumph GT-6 (really!) and we called it Pickle.
Say, are you having pickles with your Thanksgiving dinner this year? What kind of meat, turkey or ham... I like wallaby stew but not for Thanksgiving!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMNry4PE93Y The "thread drift" on here is pretty cool. I like it that repeat threads are allowed, on some sites, those aren't and it makes the site a bore to visit. |

Re: Why post?
I see it as a conversation with friends. Someone makes a statement or asks a question. The immediate answers/responses are usually on point/on topic, but a couple questions/answers down the line prod a new line of thought which starts a new topic/line of questions...

Re: Why post?
While you make a good point, I have to add that.....I've just bought a new fleece hoody that I find it fairly comfortable.
lol Seriously tho,...yes, we all do it but that is usually the way most conversations go. You start on one topic then its very rare that 15-20 minutes later you are actually still on the original topic....its generally how we all communicate. Now, ....about that fleece hoody...I like both the fit and the color. All good Coley

Re: Why post?
Not pickle green but....
Reminds me of some of the Facebook groups I'm a member of. For example a Dry Aged Beef group and someone posts, "Not dry aged, but here's a picture of my pork ribs I cooked tonight". It's like they think it's okay because they qualified that they know it doesn't belong in the group, but do it anyway. <putting soap box away> |
