Re: My 61 Build (Grandfathers truck clone)

Well guys i have some good news. I found a painter today who wrote me an estimate to do all the paint and body work on mine and my dad's truck both for $3500.00. I am thrilled at that price for sure. I ordered the following panels for mine today (the second tailgate is dad's). So, now i have to install these panels & provide the paint and the body shop will do everything else. Damn this hobby is getting expensive, LOL.

Top Banana Restoration Parts Items

1 '60-'66 CAB CORNER, PASSENGER'S SIDE @ $13.00 = $13.00
2 '60-'66 FRONT CAB FLOOR SUPPORT @ $16.00 = $32.00
1 '60-'66 FRONT LOWER DOOR PILLAR, PASSENGER'S SIDE @ $32.00 = $32.00

1 '60-'66 OUTER CAB FLOOR, DRIVER'S SIDE @ $57.00 = $57.00

Too bad you didn't order two days ago.
They had a promo code: hothot
10% off.

You might call them and ask if they might be willing to extend the promo 1 week.

No actually i have had a change of plans. I am selling my complete truck (no motor or tranny). I am gonna help dad finish his since he is retired and his funds are short. I am asking $1500 for my 61 with all the side trim, NOS hubcaps with correct wheels. Anyone interested let me know. The frame has been blasted and painted with new front suspension parts. Can't beat that deal for 1500.

I'm interested in the side trim if you're interested in selling them separately. how much would you have to have?

Wow. That must have been an interesting 20 hours and 56 minutes. What happened? After all you have gone through on this truck to just sell it after you get your trim piece and grill is a head scratcher.

He's putting the cash into his dads build, so the ol fella will have some time to enjoy it.

Pretty admirable if you ask me

Looking at it that way....

Yes, pretty admirable.

I just think slowbuild and others of us were hoping so much after all his hurdles, he could see this one through.

Zack,
I don't know your circumstances, but I wonder if $1500 is enough cash to dump your project. Is $1500 what you need to finish your dad's, or could you just store yours away for 5 to 10 years?

Around 28 years ago I sold my 65 for $1200.
I should of just parked it in my dad's barn for 28 years.
That way I'd still have it.
I needed the money then. But then again; I really didn't.
I wish I still had my 65.

It's probably none of my business, and I should keep my opinion to myself.

I do say; it is admirable that you want to focus your energy on your dad's.

You'll get to watch me build it. I'll be picking it up Sunday, putting the 65 on the back burner. Then maybe I'll sell it back to him
