1980 Chevy c-10 fleetside

Hey guys i just bought this truck a little over a week ago. I have looked through a lot of these project trucks looking for some ideas. I'm gonna go with a 305 bored .30 over for engine 5 speed over drive tranny. Tuck front and rear bumper 3-5 inch drop all over sticking with the 15x8 rally rims that are on there going to paint them.(not sure of color for rims or truck yet) Going to keep the bench seat unless i get 2 buckets for dirt cheap, I have an original OEM dash pad for the truck already, digital gauge cluster from Dakotadigital.com basic stero set up possibly a sub behind the seat(not sure yet). Going to rhino line the bed so i can still use it. moving the handle for the tailgate to the inside of the tailgate, HID headlight kits up front possible cold air intake setup not sure yet.

TURBO in the future for sure

Throw out some ideas and suggestions im an 18 year old looking to make a cool truck

thanks guys

Looks like a cool truck already. My suggestion though, if you're planning to add performance items such as a turbo, skip the 305 and at least find a 350 to build. You'll just be leaving so much on the table with the 305 block. Good luck with your project and welcome to the forum.

Re: 1980 Chevy c-10 fleetside

So lets just say the truck has been put on the back burner for a little while we have to many cars at our house and the town is always saying crap about it..... well mines not even suppose to be at the house but we threw my dads 1961 chevy apache pickup in the garage so the town wouldnt say anything about the amount of vehicles which we had...... trying to locate a 5 speed tranny with overdrive for the truck than ready for the engine and tranny to go in....... i think what im gonna do is possible go to a 350 turbo set up or a 383 stroker motor not 100% sure yet..... but once i start again ill start posting progress

Re: 1980 Chevy c-10 fleetside

well its been a little more than a year since i last posted on my build... its closer to running needs some little attention and it will be good to drive... hopefully it will be done here within the next month thats what im working towards... ill try and caught everyone up to the last post that i had... removed the front of the truck painted everything... dropped the motor and 5speed manual in... got it ready to run... went to put it in gear and that tranny exploded (gotta love craigslist)... got a 4 speed and threw that it... works a lot better... its been driven down the street now... The bed of the truck has been taken off to relocated my fuel tank... got the one out of the blazers and mounted it in the rear... going to take my leaf springs to work and push on the old bushings and put the new ones in from energy suspension... had to get rid of the bench seat because i couldn't get the shifter into second without hitting the bench seat... got two bucket seats out of a Chevy hd2500... made from brackets to make them fit... made a template for a center console gotta get the material to make it now... only problem is last friday the 27th i had surgery on my knee so know im onw crutches and my gf keeping me away from the truck because she knows ill find someway to walk and im not allowed to for 2 weeks... ill get pictures of the progress when i get home
