Re: Do you guys follow Bring a Trailer ?

Yes, I follow it and it seems like our trucks are doing pretty well on that site. Although the ones I've seen on there have been top shelf trucks typically, just like that Ford.

I though this was interesting. There was a one owner 69 Chevelle SS396, 4 speed on Bring a Trailer and listed next to it was a one owner 1983 VW Rabbit GTI with 122,000 miles. Neither car was perfect and the Chevelle had some front fender rust but was a nice looking original car. The Rabbit bid to $32,500 and the Chevelle bid to $29,000. Cars from the 80's cars are on the increase, but didn't think a VW Rabbit would outbid a 1969 SS396 Chevelle.

Re: Do you guys follow Bring a Trailer ?

I'm not a player these days, so I rarely go looking at trucks for sale. Too rich for my blood anymore. That's a cool F100 4wd. Museum quality? YeeeIdunno. Those Maverick hubcaps don't look bad on there. And I have looked at Bring A Trailer when I was searching and even tortured myself a few times when I couldn't buy a lug nut.

It's ok Dale. All American made 4wd trucks from the mid '60s - early '70s are cool beans. They had very little difference in design, construction, and drivetrain from the frame down. It has always been a dream of mine to have a full set of '71 3/4t 4wd Chevy, GMC, Ford, Dodge, and International. Not '72 because I want the 61-71 dodge body style. Although the '72 Dodge Power Wagon is a fine looking style in itself. At a glance, the '70s Dodge body style is very close to the 67-72 GM.

I didnt think you could.. I had my 71 at that time or I would of bought this one when the daughter sold it to get money for a down payment on a house..

Almost,,,,,,,,,, unbeliveable price to get,, never would of thought in my life time our trucks would bring that much

I'm kind of blown away by the prices, seem a little high to me. I'm generally not a fan of sports cars, but I always liked these. Never drove one, but seems to be you're getting a vintage British-like Sport's Car without the British problems. Price seems good to me.

Nice 71 Longhorn on the site. I wonder where this bench seat material came from?

For near $70,000 I would expect the under side of the hood to have been painted nice too.

Re: Do you guys follow Bring a Trailer ?

Well that was a strange auction. I watched it the last 30 minutes. It sold for
$87,500. What was strange was at the 1 minute mark another bid was placed and the clock reset to 2 minutes and counted down until the next bid was placed then it reset to 2 minutes again and counted down. It did this about 5 times. I've not seen that before.

That should be clearly illegal. Worth mentioning I rec'd an alert I hadn't seen before after registering. Something about tracking passwords, not the normal, didn't seem right at all. Their account platform is peculiar for a number of reasons.

Re: Do you guys follow Bring a Trailer ?

I don't know the legalities of online auctions but if I was one of the losing bidders I'd be madder than hell by them extending the auction time over and over. They have a calendar and a clock for a reason. I know why they did this but that's shady dealings I say.

Re: Do you guys follow Bring a Trailer ?

I have no affiliation with BAT
But I think the way their auction works is as close to a live auction as you can get
By extending the clock by 2 minutes with each winning bid
At the end of the auction (when, the REAL bidding happens)....
It stops the sniping from happening
And let’s the bidding continue, if there is interest
Just like a live auction
It’s better for the seller (Especially if he has a desirable vehicle)
And, isn’t that what an auction is for (people selling their vehicles?)

Sellers can also remove their reserve at anytime
Even at the last moment
Just like it happens at many live auctions

I don’t see anything wrong (illegal) with the business model

If I had a 6th sense
I wouldn’t have sold the blazer for less than a third
What it brought a few years later

It did get some work done after I let it go
But, I am shocked what they bring now
I originally paid $3500 for it

Kudos to the guy I sold it to
He did very well

Re: Do you guys follow Bring a Trailer ?

Well the business model is certainly good for the sellers and auction company. I look at this from a buyer's perspective though.
I am a spectator only as I do not buy at auctions. I don't need the competition.
