Dealer Cowl Plates
The outer cowl on my truck has a pair of small matching holes on both sides. Each pair is 3 or 4" apart. I'm assuming these were for a pair of long-gone dealer plates. Does anyone have pictures of dealer plates in that location? My truck was supposedly sold new in Broken Bow, OK. It would be cool to replace them although I know it is unlikely to happen.

Back in the day that outer cowl section was quite common to see the dealer ship die cast plates mounted there. Don't remember seeing plates on both sides though. Can you post a pic of the exact area in question? Has truck been repainted, if original paint maybe can see a "ghost" image of the missing emblem?

Sometimes if they were running a camper there were shock/struts coming from the camper over hang to the cowl. Those could be your holes too.

I got a Quality Chevrolet dealership emblem there for my 71 Chevelle. Chevelle did not come from there but I remember that dealership in the 60s and 70s be "the place" to buy trucks and performance muscle cars.

How large are the holes that you are talking about. I just saw a dealer plate on a 71 C-10 last week in that location. I tried to buy it off of the parts truck but didn't have any luck. Anyway the holes for the dealer plate are very small, less than 1/8".

Mine has the dealer badge on both sides. Many trucks from this area have them on both sides. Probably a dealer choice. The more badges, the more name recognition. I'd love to find one from the dealership my dad worked at when I was a kid.

Thanks for all of the replies. It looks like the mystery is solved by pictures on the other thread mentioned above. Here are some examples as posted by Joesjunk and Jocko. These plates are positioned exactly where my now-lost originals would have resided. While replacing them seems like an impossible dream, it would be cool to know who sold Chevy trucks in Broken Bow, OK back in 1971.
