Re: 2- power steering boxes

Got the box yesterday and it seems to be very tight as stated. However,, My rag joint does not fit. I was wondering if there is a difference in shaft sizes. I put my digital caliper on the two shafts and there is about 1/8" difference. Were these boxes cheap because I am going to have trouble finding a rag joint that will fit? NOT saying I was deceived AT ALL By any means. This was a good deal! I am asking how hard it is to find a joint that will fit?? Or am I wrong altogether? Measured wrong maybe? Might you have one that fits?

Re: 2- power steering boxes

I thought they were too?? That's why I was not worried about the rag joint not included.. I had one. The pitman arm seems to fit right. Why would they change shaft diameter? I might have measured wrong but when I tried to install the joint it looked like it was a no go at all. I went into the shop and test fit it onto the old box and it went right on. SUM beoch! I am not sure of the origin of the box I have as it was on the frame I bought for a 72 but who knows what it is off. You don't still have the joint?

Re: 2- power steering boxes

OK so I tried the rag joint on my 72 on this box and it fits. So I found out there ARE two different sizes.. Anyone know which is which or why? I need to know what to look for on trucks at the yard. Or should I just do the cherokee u joint?
