Hmmm, I've never seen anything like that from Paypal. I logged on and don't see anything from them telling me to "initiate" something. Just to be sure, was it sent to glock35ipsc at aim dot com? Was it an instant payment, or an e-check?

There is a thread about that very swap, but for me, I'd like to find a rotor to work with Glock's setup due to the rotor size. 15s are definately out if you run the late model Silverado/Sub rear disc setup. The brake setup costs enough already, without having to buy new wheels AND tires too. Anybody have an idea what the 'factory' kits available for the rear disc 6-lug conversion use for rotors? I know many use the Caddy caliper for the E-brake, but not much info given on the rotors. I'd sure like to be able to get local service repair parts and not have to order a custome rotor or have custom machine work done to replace a damaged rotor down the road. I would be all over this bracket set if I could find a 6 lug rotor option.

NAPA lists the impala rotor as 11-39/64 diamater, 0.785" thick and 2.335" high. Maybe we will get lucky with a Toyota or Nissan 6-lug rotor with 6 x 5.5 pattern? The late model GM rear disc comes in 2 flavors: 13" diameter, 1.185" thick, 3.76" tall or 12.795" diameter, 0.79" thick, 3.35" tall. I don't have the rotors in hand to decipher where the "tall" is measured from (axle flange face or rotor face), but it should be consistant among the rotors listed.

Factory fronts for my 71 are close at 11.86" diameter, 1.285" thick, 2.304" tall, but the cast iron hat won't go over the axle flange, so that option is out.

Herb

BTW - awesome work on these bracket set-ups - great ideas and excellent execution!!!

Got it Randy, thanks!!

Herb, I don't have an answer for you at this moment. When I get a chance, I'll do some digging to see if I can come up with a suitable rotor for the 6-luggers.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

I think i'm just going to swap axles, not sure what the cost is or what i should get for axles b/c i didn't think about having to replace them. Wheel choice will be easier then, though.

Main thing is, would like to use rotors advertised above to do this, so curious what axles (that i can buy new) are going to work without problems here?

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Call Summit, or jegs. They have superior, moser, etc about $250-300 for a set and they are c-clipa nd go as well as being plenty harder than the OE stuff. So you get piece of mind that an axle won't shear off on you going down the highway at 80mph!!

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

maybe this sounds, lame?
But, can someone make a post as to EXACTLY what parts are needed, in addition to these brackets for a complete assembly?
I read swervins how to on his caddy setup, pretty good, but I need more pics, call me slow...
I'd really like to see a how to, start to finish with these brackets along with whatever parts are needed to complete the project.
thx

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

The four pics in my first post are pretty self explainable. I will be creating a detailed instruction list, along with photos. I have a rough list of parts, just haven't had time to get all the part numbers together today. Once the brackets are cut and ready to ship I will definately have it all done. But, in a nutshell: Loaded calpiers w/bracket, brake hoses, metric brake line adapters, Impala SS/Caprice rotors, e-brake cable, and my brackets.

Pull the pan and remove the c-clips, slide the axles out and remove the original drum backing plates. Reinstall the axles, c-clips and cover. Then the pictures on page 1 take over from there. The horseshoe bracket mounts on the outside of the flange, then the inside bracket mounts to that. Slip on the rotor, then mount the caliper. It's up to you whether or not to cut and flare the OEM hard line to shorten it, or just buy a shorter one from NAPA or ???.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Maybe someone with a six lug might want to research a late '90's Toyota Tacoma 4x4 front rotor. Same bolt pattern, deep hat, slide on style. Just a thought.

NAPA shows the fronts as:
Outside Diameter:11.68"
Discard Thickness:.787"
Thickness When New:.87"
Height:2.77"

and rears show as drums (at least on that site). Fronts may be a possibility....

This is really awesome Bob!!! Now anyone with a 5 lug rear can convert to rear disc brakes. I am going to start collecting the necessary parts to do Lil' Red.

Can you say: HOT TICKET!!!
