Re: long wide bed or short wide bed

Long bed trucks are more plentiful and are more stable when towing a trailer.

I have seen some really nice long beds. Lowered a few inches makes them look sleek and cool.

Re: long wide bed or short wide bed

A long bed will have a smoother ride because of the longer wheelbase. As far as traction, about the same as a short bed, depends on how much of a load is in the bed. A long bed will haul more than a short bed obviously. Are you going to use the truck for work or play?

short bed looks sexier hands down

longbed will hold more and after staring at my longbed and looking at a short bed beside it the shortbed looks stubby lol

Re: long wide bed or short wide bed

shorty from another biased guy, but if you look at some of the lwb on here they can look pretty sweet and you will not only spend less on initial investment you will have a lot more to choose from so probably find a nicer truck

Re: long wide bed or short wide bed

that's always the issue, my 68 was $2500 up here and all that I kept was the frame(most of it), engine(being rebuilt but is 4bolt and in great shape), rad support, doors, hood, trailing arm(cpp reinforced now), power steering box, a lot more rare up here and always wanted one, wish I would have waited and imported outta the states. LWB conversions are always an option and made easier on here, there is a member with a full rolling swb porterbuilt bagged chassis for sale, if you aren't worried about numbers matching that could be a route to go

Re: long wide bed or short wide bed

well right now ive got about 1500$ thats about it i found a nice short bed with some rust in the qutar panels but i cant get him lower than $2250 im gettin kinda leary on it now cause he wont send me no more photos. then again in another town there is a rela sharp swb for 3200 its been barn kept. ill continue searching if i came across the right longbed i might consider getting it. who knows then might could trade for a shot or step. as i posted before an got my anser i was just kinda curious if they got better traction cause of there weight. i plan on trying to find one with a 350 in it and adding some goodies here and there. id love a 383 or something and a future ls swap im finding the 6.0s pretty reasonable in the dallas area and even the LS 6 sometimes

Re: long wide bed or short wide bed

I like both style trucks and both have pluses...the reason I have a LWB is because that is what I stumbled on and it was a loaded truck at the right price. A SWB truck with the same options would have likely cost me a lot more $$$.

As far as…does the SWB handle better or gets better traction-I don't think the average driver with similar modifications to either truck would notice a difference.

I own both and if you have a longbed with coils and everything is right, there is no better ride in my opinion, chicks dig the shortbed though...

$1500 SWB trucks?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
there are times, every once in a while that I miss texas. This is one of those times.
It's ok, it'll pass in a few moments.
1500 bones is dirt cheap for a SWB in most parts of the country. $1500 here will get you a rusted out crap box that MIGHT run, and if you are lucky, there'll be enough floor to put your feet on.

She's only married in the zip code she resides in, catch her in the next town over on a cruise night. Just kiddin ladies of this site, don't two step on my ______ (fill in the blank).

I have a SWB K10 and had a few LWB C's & K's. The C10 LWB was a smooth ride. It's all in what you want and your plans for the truck.

Re: long wide bed or short wide bed

Biased towards long beds myself. I did have a '67 C10 shorty about 20 years ago. To be honest I never noticed a diff in the ride quality. But I think long beds are sleeker, plus the ability to haul more crap is nice.

Re: long wide bed or short wide bed

How did we get from traction to sexy??? They are all good in my book. I see both long and short trucks hook up off the line. There's a lot more to traction than the wheelbase. That only matters when you race. Traction for off road and such? That's about weight and tires more than wheelbase. Traction,as far as grabbing chicks? That's all about the driver, not what he's driving

I'll never understand those who only like shortbeds. I figure they are just converted car guys who don't really like trucks. All pickups are short to me,compaired to all trucks. Through the years, the guys who liked trucks liked trucks. Shortbeds were cool for one thing and longbeds were cool for other things and both were good for about all the same things. I'm a 10-30 truck guy. Shortbeds are only light little 1/2 tons. I like them as a car for this truck guy.

CrazyJesster, its your truck and your wallet buddy, what ever make you happy with YOUR truck is what i say. i do like both short and long bed but owning a short bed makes me bias. as far as traction no problems here. the picture was for motivation purposes only.

Re: long wide bed or short wide bed

I don't like trucks.... I have a short fleet 2wd, lm4, 4l60e, 3.73 posi, 4-6 drop, sway bar, big brakes, under bed fuel cell. I have a truck because I need a truck. I have a 67 c-10 because it looks great..... For a truck.

theirs more to handeling and traction than wheelbase, but a swb is a etter starting point than a lwb.

I like both short and long beds, but I kinda do wish mine was a short bed. They just look a lil more "sporty". But I got a SWEET deal on mine when I bought it.
