Re: What goes here? (Interior bedside gap)

Looks like a decent alternative, long enough to experiment with rolling over the ends.

Re: What goes here? (Interior bedside gap)

Another thought would be to use the long suburban panel strips. They are about 71" on the long side and would only require one cut. they are the same profile as the upper door panel strips The short side is about 47'' . I probably still have some from part outs but would have to look

Anybody have a length on the Blazer ones?
.

Re: What goes here? (Interior bedside gap)

OK, an update on this little issue and another question for someone knowledgeable.

Update: I ended up ordering stainless tile edging cutting it to length, manually rolling the ends, then polishing the hell out of it. They turned our incredibly nice. So, I ended up with a very believable set of "retainers" as the assembly manual called them for ~$90 plus some work. Not bad.

But, a quick question - does the [protective sheet metal box for the filler-neck stay on underneath the rear vinyl panels? If so it's going to create a funky gap. Anyone know how the CST's were built WRT that piece?

Nice work.

Factory CST K5s lacked that cover for the metal fuel filler neck, which the panels covered. The cover was used on non-CST K5s.

Those trim pieces look good! How did you roll the ends? Could you post some close-up pics?

Thank you.

Re: What goes here? (Interior bedside gap)

I finally wrapped the side-panel project today. Honestly, the trim rails turned out amazing! I ended up using a combination of pop-rivets and 3M trim adhesive (the really thin stuff) to bond them to the bed rails. Unless you REALLY know what the original profile looked like I don't think anyone would ever suspect these aren't factory.

I actually just rolled them using some needle nose pliers. I cut the profile I wanted, then used the pliers to gradually roll the stainless over on the end. Then sanded it, and polished the hell out of it. Here are some pictures of the roll before polishing.

Not exactly related to the fantastic mod you made to the trim pieces, but I like the setup you did with the speakers and the CST bedside panels. Not sure i'll be able to bring myself to cut a couple holes in the panels that i get, but i like the classic looks of the panels coupled with a high quality sound system.

Those look amazing. I really wanted to get some original ones, but they're just SUPER hard to come by. Congrats on having a pair and getting them back to like-new! Jealous

Thanks. It was nerve-wracking for sure. I specifically chose that sub, not only for its quality, but because it had muted design and offered a subtle grille that would make it blend in a little more with the CST panels and not be overly flashy or gaudy.

Making the subwoofer enclosure was a whole other journey. The bedsides are so shallow that there was almost no tolerance to fit the sub. I had to use the inner bedside as a mold and lay up fiberglass to create the back panel, then used 1/2" baltic birch for the sides and faceplate. Then used chopped fiberglass and epoxy resin to reinforce all the joints. Ugh... But, it sounds great!

Re: What goes here? (Interior bedside gap)

This is exactly what I'm needing to do to my Jimmy.
What tile trim did you get from home depot? Was it an in stock item or did you need to special order it Harrij4?

I had to special order to get stainless. The aluminum stuff they have in stock is hard anodized, so once you roll over the ends and cut through the anodized layer, you can't actually polish it.

It's Schluter Rondec 3/8 stainless bullnose edging (not brushed). Here's a link if the system doesn't remove it:
