You mean the hole in the floor? Actually, maybe it's someone's attempt at reducing the fuel smell in the cab...

Is it mounted to the floor? It kinda looks like a breather on front of the engine oil fill.

Re: I Dunno What It Is

Could it be one of those air freshners you buy at the parts store, that just got left behind after the truck seat was removed?
Seriously, I never have seen anything like it other than a breather on a engine. But the fuel vapor idea seems logical..

Re: I Dunno What It Is

What happend to the rest of the truck? could it be some kind of a vent or a breather for a vac booster under the cab.I saw a 3500 gmc once that was supper HD it had 18" wheels with a big bolt pattern like a c 50 or 60 and it had a brake booster under the cab on the frame like my old c60.I dont know why it would need to vent inside the truck though, just throwing it out for consideration.

Re: I Dunno What It Is

You know,Old Chev, that could be it.I never saw the rest of the truck.I believe it was a race car hauler. It`s a Custom/air cab.I didn`t think about those HD 3500s having different brakes.
Maybe Big Al`s right. That was my first thought.Maybe it`s like propane injection but with methane.

I have seen them before in c-40 and bigger trucks, but never paid attention to the reason.

Re: I Dunno What It Is

What would you vent into the cab? I haven't a clue!Maybe it was to keep the air tight cab from sucking in on the driver!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: I Dunno What It Is

It could be for something that needs venting like a rear axle does. For example, an axle does not give off any harmful fumes and it has a vent that is attached to the frame rail to keep it up out of water if crossing a wet area. Maybe there is someone with one of the C50-C60's who can clue us in as to if it is original and what is mounted under the cabs on the big trucks (?)

Maybe where the owner lived it would flood frequently, so he decided to make a drain.
