are window regulators worth rbldg

my windows don't roll up very easy. your better off just grabbing the glass and pulling up. my question is are the regulators worth rebuilding or should i just buy new ones?

I'm unaware of any parts available for them. And the ones I've swapped out that were tired I couldn't see how they could be fixed if you wanted to. There is actually quite a bit of areas to wear in them.

To me, they are like a cheap weed wacker- if it starts giving you fits, throw it away and get a new one

Re: are window regulators worth rbldg

I have found the aftermarket ones worse what I was replacing, just my experience. Most times I have found that it is the rollers that are bad and they are easy enough to replace.

Re: are window regulators worth rbldg

that what i was wondering. i'm looking thru classic parts of america catalog and they have the rollers along with the part that actually cranks so that you could actually rebuild them. just don't know if it's worth it or better to replace

Re: are window regulators worth rbldg

I'd take them out & inspect them first. If they are like ALL the troublesome ones I've seen, you will find bad rollers, teeth worn on the shaft gear, shaft wear, the holes that support the shaft worn egg shaped, etc.

Re: are window regulators worth rbldg

Just get new ones! I rebuilt mine in Low Buck for the build but they were a pain in the arss. The rivots that come with the new roller did not work right so I had to weld them in place and that did not work perfect but it did work. Another one had a warn out spring as well as bad rollers so it did not work great after the rebuild. So before I put in new glass I called up Stan at ECE and I think for about $30 a piece I bought new ones and they work so nice, they made the truck feel like a whole new vehical!

Just my .02 but they are not worth the effort!
