Exclamation 350 chevy cam problems

i have a 350 its been sitting for a while its in a blazer. its my dads truck, my uncle brook something on it a few years ago. my dad said there that it was a timing chain problem. but he never worked on it. recently i picked up a wrench and took it apart. i found that the cam is snapped in 2.it snapped only a little ways in after the timing chain. i was wondering how this could happen, and if i can just get a new cam. or if i need to replace the rods and lifters?

Re: 350 chevy cam problems

Might have just been a bad core. You'll have to take the crank and rods out to at least check the bearings, and I'd clean out the oil passages. Some small bit of metal had to have come off of it. Then go from there.
