What did you get done 11/30/14 Edition

I replaced the automatic pedals in my truck for a clutch pedal setup and ran into a bunch of problems with existing components also installed the battery support and tray in the 74
How about you all?

Re: What did you get done 11/30/14 Edition

Removed the drive shaft, trans lines, exhaust, shift linkage and torque converter bolts. Will be pulling the turbo 400 out and putting a 700r4 in tomorrow in my 81 C20.

Re: What did you get done 11/30/14 Edition

Put my distributor back in after doing new side covers, valve cover, and gaskets on my 250.

Truck won't start now! Checked for TDC, proper alignment, etc... Got cold and said screw it, and went in the house to enjoy homemade clam chowder and fresh bread.

Will dive in again tomorrow. Probably something really silly. As I said, really cold and blustery out and I work under a canopy on a driveway.

Also, I've got spare wheels, and don't need the truck for a few days, and did I mention chowder? Oh, and Full Sail Wassail?

Re: What did you get done 11/30/14 Edition

Worked on derusting my roof for epoxy. Sanded using 80 grit discs as much as it would remove and then naval jelly. Its working but slower than expected. The bad thing is that I won't be able to get back to it until the weekend as I'll be out of town. After my last application of naval jelly, I wipped it down with lacquer thinner and then with ppg grease and wax remover and finally covered it with a cloth backed piece of vinil. Hope it protects it well for a week. Will see.

Back in action!

Somehow I managed to install my distributor 180 degrees out. Twice.

Third time's the charm.

Simple Green rides again!

Pulled the turbo 400 out and put the 700R4 in. Had to drill to holes in the trans cross member 1 inch back from the turbo 400 holes.

Re: What did you get done 11/30/14 Edition

Finished working on my crossmember so I could take measurements and order a new transaxle. Should get it by the end of the week.
Sat down to make a list of parts that still needs to be ordered. This thing is digging a deeper hole in my pocket than I had planned for..... again.....

Re: What did you get done 11/30/14 Edition

Started an engine swap for the 75 K5..

Going to get new shocks, steering components and a much needed cleanup and frame paint in the process..

Here is what's going in place of the original very tired 350.

Another early block with updated center bolt heads, retro fit roller internals.

Put in new cross member, spend 3 hours digging for bolts because I'm too big of a tightwad to buy new ones... And welded the clips on my arm rests to my doors... Got my door panel and mirror fixed

Nothing..

Trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on an LQ4 swap. I can get one for $1500
with the transmission and computer but they cut the harness. 115000 miles from a totaled box truck.

Posted them both for sale on Craigslist. I'm trying to buy a house, which is more important than the trucks.

I understand completely. In 2008, I was hard at work on a '66 Suburban. I also had two kids aged 3 and 1, and a sudden need for a new place to live. I was short on my down payment, and I sold the 'burb for a considerable profit, though it stung.

Do what you gotta do. Another truck will come along--they always find those of us who are unable to resist!
