lockers

Anybody here use a rear locker? Been researching Spartan and Powertrax lockers as a cheaper and easier alternative to a LSD. Most of the info out there is from offroading sites.People seem to either love them or hate them.

My truck is 2wd/4spd and daily driven. Pros? Cons?

Thanks

Re: lockers

I have a Powertrax NoSlip in the back of my CJ-5. Mostly it isn't noticeable, but every once in awhile it pops and acts funny. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. But you need to be pointing straight when you get in the throttle. My jeep doesn't get that much road driving time and I picked up front and rear axles with NoSlips, gears, brakes, aftermarket axles, wheels and tires for $800 so that made sense to me.

I have one in the back of my K30 dually and it does all sorts of wonky stuff with the extra wide truck and dual wheels. Truck is off-road only farm beater.

They are only as strong as the stock open diff case and spider gear pin as most don't come with a hardened pin.

Personally, I would not run one just to save money. The LSD is the right answer. Either a clutch type or a TruTrac is what to spend your money on.

I think I am gonna go with this setup, https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-GM-8-5-...gAAOSwKIpWEd9w.

probably not the best, but for the money it should work for me.
