Re: 56 Chev Garage build

Finally finish the top headlight portion of the fenders, had to cut and reweld a section of drivers side near grill. Next need to primer all of the fender and block sand. I think I would rather go to the Dentist than do body work!

Re: 56 Chev Garage build

I like the look of the tri five steering wheel. What does it take to adapt it to the van column? Any close up pics of the conversion?

Re: 56 Chev Garage build

I like the fancy Aluminum recovery tanks but can't see in spending that much money for something I can not see the fluid in. I needed an overflow tank for the radiator so went to Autozone and bought one of the generic plastic recovery tanks. I used the factory holes that where already drilled, put in Three rubber grommets for hose and two behind the mounting bracket so it wont rub against the the paint, also split a gas line and placed on the lower bracket in two spots that lay against the fender wheel all for under $10.

Today I re-did an old bumper, stripped with paint stripper and etch primed and repainted it white. Color sanded too

Re: 56 Chev Garage build

Worked on the doors yesterday just wanted to share a little on a tool my brother recommended to buy and it work great. I have a harbour frieght stud gun and the stud pullers sucks big time, the wheel that holds the studs strips out very quickly after use. My right door was dropped by previous owner (look like a 2nd story drop) and the damage was extensive it buckled the bottom of door and pushed the outter skin up so much so that I was thinking of buying an outter skin and new lower panel. This got be thinking why not use my new tool and fix it so I cut the bottom of door which gave me access to inside skin and using a hammer and dolly I straighten the door as best I could. Then after straightening and welding the bottom I used the tool to finish the rest. I am sorry but I forgot to take pictures on outter stud work but I got pics of the bottom. If you need the tool just google it stud leveler I highly recommend it.

Re: 56 Chev Garage build

we have a hf stud gun, works great but we use different tools than the cheap hf pullers too
i'm surprised studs do anything with the thick metal on our trucks
i massaged a fender with two 5lb hammers for a couple hours to fix a crushed lip
