coody, anything is possible. it mostly depends on your fabrication ability and skill level
nothing is ''bolt in'' unless it is original to your truck model
my 58 truk has an 03 mustang master cylinder under the floor using the original pedal
i'm sure the 99 z71 can be made to work, it might involve changing swing or ratio to work

Depends where you’re mounting it.
Under floor is easier.
Under dash some cutting and reinforcing is needed.
The firewall needs bracing or it might flex.

Re: 1999 truck brake pedal & master cylinder

How it all mounts up to the firewall is the big issue. I've never looked at one that year to tell if the firewall in the 99 is vertical or angled. if the donor firewall is vertical aka straight up and down you just have to figure out how to reinforce the firewall to keep it from flexing. That usually means putting a large plate of metal on the inside to spread the pressure out and maybe a reinforcement bracket running to the dash. Not a real big deal.

The big deal to me is if you are willing to live with the ugly booster and master cylinder in your engine compartment for the convenience of having a firewall mounted setup.

The other issue is engine clearance for the booster. You want the engine mocked up in place before you go to put the booster in. I had a 74 Pontiac Wagon booster on my 48 firewall when I had the truck subframed and it pretty well blocked access to the left valve cover and left side of the engine.

Re: 1999 truck brake pedal & master cylinder

ok guys tks for this info. The truck came w/o brake pedal and master cylinder. I was thinking that might work. So I need an original brake pedal, mustang master cylinder& booster to start.won't even mess with the 99

Like to do 4 wheel disc brakes so what residual valves would I need?

I have a question on sub frame for this 56 truck but will start a new thread on that one. tks again for the above info, saved me some time!!!!!

Discs need 2# valves.
Drums need 10# valves.
