Perfect morning to run a half marathon

Today I ran the Kansas Rails to Trails Extravaganza.
The races were a live event:
Half marathon
Marathon
50k
50miler
100k
100 miler

I’ve been training for this day seriously for 12 weeks.
It was a beautiful morning for a 13.1 race.
37* and no wind on a flat course.
I really like running in the cooler weather.
I finished in 1.55.23. That works out to 8.48 per mile average, with my last mile being my fastest at 8.23.

I saw a buddy who I train with a from the Kenukan early this morning. He was running the 50 miler. He is a young guy that was in the Navy. He is definitely hardcore.

My awesome wife took some pictures and cheered me on!

So I’ve got two races in this year, a cross country 5k 3 weeks ago and this Half...I feel blessed that I’ve been able to get out and run. I’ve never been the fastest or even close to the fastest but it’s been a blast!

I have no regrets but I would have liked to run the Billy Miles 10k this November.I don’t think it’s going to happen this year.
He has been one of my many inspirations along with truckster.
Thank you truckster... Esprit de Corpse.
I can’t wait til spring.... gotta run

Nice work there. Good pace. I am hoping to do a 10K next year. I just fractured my knee cap so I have some time to stew about and not go for a run. My wife is a runner and got me into it. It's a great feeling. My 5K time was 32min on my first try so I have plenty of work to do.

You look a bit like the actor Josh Brolin, if he wore his hair like that.

That’s a respectable time for your first 5k. That skinks about your knee.
Let’s up how you do on the 10k.

Leon, I feel blessed to be able to get out on the trail and run. I ain’t breaking any speed records but it a joy.

I thought I’d add a few more photos. These were taken by professionals.
This was such a fun day.
My buddy Dave has such an infectious personality.
He ran the 50 miler in 10.16 with essentially no training. He signed up for it about 2 weeks before race day.
