Thumbs down Wheel Vintiques (Fresno, CA)

I had this posted once and deleted it because I thought it was all going to
work out. I sent an E-mail to them about a bent wheel. (I was very polite)
1 week later I sent another followup e-mail (Slightly agitated) yet another
week later I sent a followup to the followup (Severely pissed off) They did
finally answer me and slammed me for being impatient. Now forgive me on
this one, but Internet sales and service is the way to go in this day & age.
(Just in case you are wondering I got nowhere trying to contact by phone)
I can't help but wonder why they don't check it but every couple of weeks.
Even if they checked it daily and had 500 e-mails (Most of which are most
likely questions, and some orders) why wouldn't they notice one that looks
like this -> "BENT WHEEL, EGG SHAPED" (Please Help !!!) Subject line.
Anywhoha, they told me to go screw myself (Luv's polite version of it) and
to loose their number / e-mail and never call / e-mail them again. So today
I ordered me a spare wheel (It took me almost 3 months to save for one) I
guess I learned my lesson & would hope this info helps anyone thinking of
using them, so here it is in a nutshell almost exactly taken from his words,

"It's best to mount the rim on a balancer 1st to check the wheels condition,
once a tire is mounted, regardless of the wheels condition, then you own it"

The part that hurt the most is that they claim to be a small family owned
buisness (I reccomended that be on their internet homepage since it's not
& most of what is on there is them bragging about their accomplishments)
so wouldn't you think they would be more considerate of their customers?
Maybe all wheel companies are like this, I do not know since I have never
purchased wheels before. Mine is clearly egg shaped, and there is no way
you could have seen that from just looking at the wheel before adding the
tire to it. Just for the record, I NEVER asked for a refund or an exchange, I
only asked to be sold a replacement at a discount. Was I asking too much?

After a flurry of E-mail exchanges I told them I was going to post it in the
Review section of a Message board that had 30K+ Truck and Car peeps to
his reply of that's just slander and you have no right to do it, but I did

Re: Wheel Vintiques (Fresno, CA)

I'm not going to go into the whole e-mail vs phone aspect since you say you weren't able to get far with that but did you use a CC for this transaction at all? Why not try and involve them? At any rate that disclaimer about once mounted you own them is pretty common in my experience. Unmounted is easy to identify where the problem occurred (installer or manu defect). Once mounted though how can the manu/retailer be expected to accept responsibility for something that could very easily be the fault of a driver hitting a pothole type issue. It's real easy for your local tire shop to toss the wheel up on the balancer and just spin it to look for out of roundness when asked since you're spending money and buying tires with them anyways.

Something else that is probably very innocent but appears to be shady or underhanded to me is asking for a discount on the purchase of a new wheel as opposed to a replacement or refund for the damaged one. Unless your like me and like having a matching spare how many people in their right mind would want to keep a damaged wheel when the whole point was to have a nice set of wheels to begin with?

Re: Wheel Vintiques (Fresno, CA)

The wheels were bought new, but never opened for almost a year, and
then a tire was mounted (Which kills 99% of all returns anyway) I never
even considered balancing them before installing the tires, and most of
you here probably would have not thought about that either. I'm stuck
and just going to have to eat the wheel (In theory) New one is ordered
and I'll get you pic's of the bad one when they mount the newer one on.

Well you have to look at it from there point of view... they sold you wheels a year ago... now its a year later, the wheels are mounted, and your claiming they shipped you the wheels like that.......
if it was me, I wouldn't have even tried to contact them, I would have known it was to late... as far as they know you have been driving on it for a year, they do have to run a buisness

The wheel in question was never mounted to the vehicle, and I never asked
for refund or an exchange, I simply asked for a discount on a spare wheel. I
have added 2 vids below of the replacement (That I paid for) and the bad 1.
