Engine removal

I'm getting ready to pull the engine, 350 and trans, 350 from my 77 square. I'd like to pull them as one unit but it looks like there's not enough clearance at the fire wall to raise it enough to clear the clam shell motor mount. I'm thinking I can unbolt the whole mount assembly from the cross member and slide everything forward to gain the clearance. I've got all the sheet metal removed so it's wide open in front.
Any tips or tricks to make this a little easier will be welcomed.
