Re: Old gas disposal

Buy a bunch of cat litter, pour it into a bucket then pour the gas into it. Keep doing the process untill all the old gas is gone, The you can take the litter to the dump.

Re: Old gas disposal

you can pour gas on the ground and light it... it won't explode.
Without compression, you only get a fireball... not an explosion.
I frequently burn off what ever I spill (example like a carb swap) in the yard in a hubcap or something. Been doing it for 20 years, never an explosion.
ever.

Re: Old gas disposal

I just went thru this - I called my local recycling center - they pointed me to a company about 20 miles away that takes it for free.
The recycle oil and fuel at this company- just show up and dump it into a big pit - in and out in under 5 minutes

Cool. thanks for the heads up, because a friend and I share a 250 gallon oil tank for our waste oil. Well somehow gasoline was added and I wanted to use this waste oil for one of those heaters, but was concerned about the end result

actually not a bad idea. I have an old sheet of scrap plywood that I pour old paint that I want to get rid of on and let it dry. Just put what ever you pour it on way away from the house and garage. Pour it a little at a time so that it has time to soak in and or dry.

from past experience it will mess up a set of valves in an engine real quick.

I've mixed some with diesel before for fire starter. I'll use it on burn piles, or to burn the weeds out of fences in the spring.
I also though about this . I just don't burn that much .

Smells to bad . Not a good idea imo.

I have bought an old truck that has been sitting for 11 years and i intend to remove the fuel tank before bringing it home as the fuel is horrible . I'll probable at this point pull the tank and drain to a gas can marked old gas . Add some diesel to the tank and wash it around to try and get as much as posssible , then dispose of the tank through the metal recyclers and dispose of the old gas after contact with the city . Great ideas and some really sound advice .
