Iam donewith LMC

About a month ago I ordered a seat upholstrey kit from them. Went to install it and I noticed one of the cut outs for the seat belts was sewed into the wrong spot, I e-mailed themand sent pictures and they sent me another seat bottom. It sat inmy office for 4 days before I brought it home. once home with it, I opened the box and they had sentme the wrong color. Once again,I e-mailed them and sent pictures of the correct color and the wrong color. I even sent them the part number I needed. They sent a UPS call tag and got the wrong stuff picked up. 4 days later, seat bottom #3 shows up and it is the same wrong color they had sent me previously. Once again I sent them an e-mail with pictures and the correct part number I needed. They shipped it next day air and I got it last Friday. Opened the box and guess what? Yep, you guessed it, wrong again! I e-mailed them and nicely asked for my money back and asked them to have the wrong stuff picked up. Guess I will just bite the bullet and take my seat to an upholstrey shop and have it covered.

I can understand getting the wrong item 1 time but 3 times? Give me a break!

Doesn't anybody else who knows what they're doing sell the seat cover you need?

Re: Iam donewith LMC

I bought a power steering hose from them. I installed it on my truck and the truck sat for about 6 months. First time I started the truck up the hose burst. I've had other issues with their stuff too. I don't buy their junk anymore either.

Re: I am donewith LMC

I will only deal with them if I have no choice, I ordered seatbelts form them for my 91 Suburban. Prices were ok, or so I thought at the time. Then I find a link from seatbeltplanet.com. The belts were 20.00 cheaper and I saved 100.00 on shipping.
LMC charged me 100.00 for shipping a 8 pound box to Canada. I am all for a company making a profit , but this is insane!
I know some stuff has to come from them but when ever I have a choice I will go else where.

Good luck with your issues man. I had some issues with Katskins with my covers , their customer service is excellent.

Try your local upholstery shop. They can get factory-like fabrics and likely do a professional install for less than LMC prices.

Re: Iam donewith LMC

I've never had problems with LMC,,,,but there are so many aftermarket truck suppliers out there (literally dozens) that you have alot of choices to find the parts you are looking for. Just pick someone else,,,,alot of good reputable vendors out there.

Re: Iam donewith LMC

I've had really good luck from GMCPAULS. I replaced both sets of window seals on a set of doors I put on my dually. I received the vent window seals first, but since I wasn't in a really big hurry and the vendor had to retool for the other set I received the other set 6 months later. They asked me if I wanted my money back or wait on the seals. I went ahead and waited on the seals.

Yes their customer service sucks not to mention everytime you call their you are speaking to a call center that no one knows nothing about parts.I've had a good experience with classic truck parts.

If there is a complaint from me with LMC that would be it. If you have a question on a part, no matter what it is,,,they can't answer it.

Re: Iam donewith LMC

I feel your pain brother,

I recently ordered a Pull Strap for a door panel. The catalog listing said only available in black. (Needed Brown)

Parts arrived, open the package with some other small parts, located the "Pull Strap" , guess what, it is BLUE.....?

Called one today and they want " somewhere around $500" to recover my factory seat. I told the guy he was smoking crack. Jeff Ranger gave me a link to Rick's Custom Upholstery, looks like I will be getting one from them. Hope to have it done so I can make Somerset in September.

Re: Iam donewith LMC

Forgot the best part, got an e-mail from LMC today. It is below.

We are sorry we could not correct the issue. All of our stock matches all the replacements we had sent you. If none of them matched the original we sent you then there must have been a mix up from our vendor. We will arrange for UPS to pick up whatever items you do not wish to keep. Please let us know how many boxes and the size of each. We will issue a refund once all seat kit pieces are received. We appreciate your business and hope to hear from you in the future.

That's about right when you figure todays labor rates. Shop here in town is more expensive than that.

I've paid $4-500 just for the covers on certain cars (and that's pre-made stock type stuff), then if you need foam, that's another $4-500 for good quality pre-formed stuff,,,then there is my time to do it as well. If you get into custom covers that the factory never offered, plan on spending even more money.

I buy most of my seat upholstery from Legendary for the classic stuff,,,good quality but you pay a bit more. If I have to I'll use PUI as a secondary choice.

Re: Iam donewith LMC

You could try getting in touch with a member of the board here that goes by "Yellowblazer69".

He posts on the 69-72 blazer section once in a while. He has seat covers made and sells them,,,and I think he is in your neck of the woods (somewhere in the Carolina's).

I bought some white vinyl with orange houndstooth inserts from him about 2-3 years ago that were sewn up and made to order, and it was very nice quality.
