Hello from SoDak!

Hey everyone, time to finally introduce myself so I can say thank you. I'm from South Dakota and a long-time chevy fan. I have been blessed to come from a family with a deep love for anything classic. I have been lurking this website frequently after my father and I scored some C10s about a year ago. I've always wanted another truck after I sold my 2001 Mazda B3000 and was looking for something more modern. But because of the wonderful world of the interwebs and between my father and I's never-ceasing Facebook marketplace scrolling, we found ourselves towing home two C10s.
A little background; my father is an expert shade-tree mechanic from his years of flipping 60's GMs, Fords, Datsuns, and a number of Volkswagens.
My Grandfather is a man who never stops working hard. He is a wizard wood craftsman who has an obsession with Triumphs.
I'd like to say I have some skill tinkering with cars but it pales in comparison to my aforementioned forefathers.

I would not be able to count how many parts of this project I've been so frustrated with and quit on. Still, my Father casually walks up to my problem and remedies it every single time. From stuck bolts to broken pieces he always has a solution.

Some years ago I started a 1968 Beetle project after a deployment with the USAF. I was flush with cash and I love bugs. I surprised myself then with what I was able to accomplish but it would never have been completed without my Dad. I very regrettably sold that car a few years later.

So here is the new project.
1970 cab on a 1972 SWB frame 5.3 truck motor. Static dropped with Riddler wheels.
It started as me wanting to drop the LS in and drive it. However, we couldn't leave it well enough alone and stripped it from the ground up.
After everything so far my Dad and Grandpa still give me crap for not cleaning the engine.
It's not quite finished yet but I'm very pleased with it considering the original plan and none of us are professionals to boot!

We replaced all of the suspension with new where it was necessary. Installed 2.5 drop spindles with stock springs in the front. The rears were heated by the previous owner. Not sure where I'm gonna go on that route. Maybe bags for towing?

Riddler 695s are 18x8 255/55r18-No rubbing

Seat upholstery and door cards were done by my awesome grandparents! My grandma embroidered the awesome eagles.

All new seals everywhere. The windshield was not fun. Don't try it with the exterior visor on.

Paint is still needed on the hood, and we've decided to cut out the dash to replace it with a good used one.

The bed hasn't been touched yet, let me know if you've got a good cheap original tailgate.

I'm deeply indebted to my Dad, Grandpa, Grandma, and everyone else who has encouraged me on this project.
Just about equally so I'm also incredibly grateful for this wonderful resource and all who have contributed to it.

There really is a West Dakota. Google it and you’ll be surprised. Kind of on the other end of the rainbow from the majority of the people in Dakota. Nice pickup and welcome from the middle of the southern one.
