Trans dipstick?

Hey guys, 1969 c10. Have 2006 6.0/ 4l80e. What are you guys doing for transmission dipstick? The one from the donor wont work, too high. Bought 3 different ones from parts stores. None work.
Flexible Lokar? Thanks!

Re: Trans dipstick?

Trim the tube and the stick the same amount, make your own marks on the stick in relation to the original marks

Re: Trans dipstick?

Can you use one from a TH400? I don't have a 4L80 but they look semi-interchangable?

Re: Trans dipstick?

I ordered AAF-ALL69118 from Summit for $40.00 Fits well. Had to build a small bracket to reach a trans bolt to mount it to. Wish I had a better pic for you.

Re: Trans dipstick?

On my 68 LS/4L60E swap I did the cut the "stock" trans dip stick and tube. I filled the trans, checked the fluid level and then as said above cut the tube and dipstick. Took a file and marked the fill levels on the dip stick.
I have used Lokar on other LS swap projects with good success but I think they are a bit overpriced.

Re: Trans dipstick?

The correct fluid level is at the pan gasket.

I agree it is easy enough to cut down a stock tube.
I use a tubing cutter. The newer style gauge is riveted at the top.
I drill them and cut to length and add new rivets.
That way it looks factory.
I believe the locking style gauge fits the older tubes.
But you need to confirm that.
