Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I picked up some big block open chamber oval port heads this weekend. They look a little rough in the pic but they will clean up good. I also am planning to go to Kansas to pick up a 454 peanut head motor from an rv that supposed to have 19K mi. I will slowly gather big block stuff to get it ready to go into this truck. So far I have the frame brackets and motor mounts, All the ps and alt, ac brackets and pulleys I'll get later.

Woody (Woodridge)helped me when I was looking at these as I have no clue about big block stuff. He also gave me advice on the motor that I'll pick up this weekend.. Thanks again!!

the motor I'm going to pick up from m6z

Looking good. Digging the backup lights. Thanks for the deal PS pump.

By the way. Got my new welder today. Need to get a tank, and probably a regulator, but I should be ready to start back on rust repair now.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Took a little break from the rear of the truck and got the hood out.I got this hood from Woody (Woodridge) Thanks. And as I took the trim off I didn't see any rust through until I pushed on the rust with a screwdriver. The hole started out about as big as my fingertip but as I cut it, it grew. The weak metal was apparent as the cutting wheel sliced through like butter. I'll make a patch for this later. The hood has paint on it that will have to come off when I paint the truck. So I'll scuff the paint and spray it with the rattle can primer for now.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

It looked like it might rain today so I decided to finish up the stereo. I will make a speaker box and put it in front of the seat anf affix my cup holder thingy to it so you won't see the speakers that well. And yes I cut it. And I'm glad I did it now. It sounds sooo much better than my other truck.

Looks good, and I bet it sounds good. I am all for cutting it unless you are doing stock restoration. Where did you get the backer plate?

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I capped the rails on the end and mudded the rear pillars. I still have to patch the little places on the side where the old latches were.

That looks really good Chuck. I always wished I'd done that to my silver truck.

Is this the one you need the windsheild for? How far off the interstate are you?I'm hoping when I head that way I can bring it directly to you if I have the time.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I'm about 2 mi from the exit ramp at exit 11. My land actually goes back to the interstate. yes this is the truck that needs the windshield. I have everything like rubber gasket and trim now. So I'm ready for it soon.

I welded some patches in where the old cutout was for the tailgate chain latches. Skim coated them and primed it.

Wet sanded the bed ends and I'll prime them again tomorrow maybe.I was going to start it but I had a battery cable break so I'll try to get two new ones. I also will try to get my new sparkplug wires on.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Thanks Bob. Just got done piddling with it. Come to find out I need one of those plastic plugwire holders that goes on one of those metal stock holders. I'll probably have to buy 4 or 8 and I don't have my crimpers. I have a set I took to work and I think it has the automotive spots for plug wires. So I didn't get much done. painted a few of the wire holders, routed two/no ends right now. spot painted little spots where the fenders go. Put the new acc,on,off thingy above the key. I had it for years and when I needed it I couldn't find it. finally ran across it tonight.
