Re: Wtb 4x4 shift knob

I have a knob that looks like a t case shift knob but has no lettering, numbers or ribs. The threads are fine not coarse and look to be 7/16 ?

Re: Wtb 4x4 shift knob

I have a 70 np205 knob. They are plain. No letters. It has 3/8 fine thread. It's in very nice shape, no marks or blemishes.

I have a 72 k5 knob, it has one scratch to the right of the 4Lo lettering. The knurls are excellent and it is 7/16 fine thread. I'll post pics tomorrow if you're interested it wont let me post pics from my phone tonight

Re: Wtb 4x4 shift knob

Since it's the "transfer case" knob on a 4wd '70 with NP 205 transfer case you are looking for, there are two types of shifters. There's a unique to '70 shifter that bends over toward the driver, which has no pattern on it,then there's the type like was used in 71/72,but with 7/16" threads. Those have the pattern. Oh,sorry, don't have a spare.

Re: Wtb 4x4 shift knob

Not sure on all the differences, but mine was a standard, had the bend to the drives side, plain knob and a sticker on the roof about the mirror indicating the shift pattern.

Re: Wtb 4x4 shift knob

That's the straight one. You just need to get the threads matched to whatever knob you use. Not sure if they made a lettered knob in 3/8 ?
Maybe someone else knows !

Re: Wtb 4x4 shift knob

Your shifter looks the same as in my 72. I checked the threads in this knob with a bolt and they are 7/16 fine thread. In the photos I noticed a small crack at the base by the threads it is so small I had to use magnifying glass to confirm it was there.

Re: Wtb 4x4 shift knob

There are two different sizes that I know for sure. But I think the plain knobs are 3/8 fine and the lettered one are 7/16 fine. You might be able to put a 71-72 shifter on you TC and use the knob you have !
