blazer top question.

can you buy new blazer tops for like a 1971 blazer? if so how much do they run? and how much dose a good used one go for? I was looking into buying a blazer but the top is trashed, so the price will be the factor. thanks Landon

You can buy new soft tops (Bestops. approx 500.00). Good luck finding a hard top that isnt trashed or that isnt at least 700. to 800. If you do find one look the rear hatch door over very well. They are usually trashed or cracked very badly. There was a post a while back for a half top but very pricey.

Landon-
You can't buy new blazer hardtops for you blazer, only softtops...which I think look kinda dumb. JMO I got my top (singlewall) for 450.00 and it was in decent shape. My friend worked on the fiberglass for another 450.00 and my top looks like it just came out of the showroom...It's all who ya know If it's a good blazer don't pass it up because it has a bad top, you can find a top if you search. I actually have an extra doublewall top that is in okay shape and a perfect hatch. The hatch I'm asking 425.00 for tho. It has all the hardware plus a key and it is in PERFECT MINT condition!

Blazer top

landon4421;
I have a "72" double wall top that is in pretty good shape, it has a dime sized hole in the outer shell towards the pass side back. The hatch thats on it is trashed but I bought another one that needs a little work to repair it but its all there. I would like to get about $250.00 out of it to cover my costs but I'm open to offers, or trades. It's in southern Idaho so it might be too far for ya but just let me know.
thanks Dave

The one FRENCHBLUE72 has is rather nice and it isnt that far of a drive. He is only 55 miles north of the Oregon / Calif border. A very nice road trip with alot of sights along the way. Shasta Lake is almost full.

thanks guys, I need to get the cash from the wifey first.:p I think she is getting tired of her little honda accord. So mabe soon I will be in the need for a top. I found one blazer for $5500, and IMO it is not worth that. More like $2500 - $3000. So I was going to offer him that today, But I found one in the auto ads for $3700 so now I need to go there first to see it. Mabe it is in better shape than the first one. I love shopping for these trucks. I want one of each model when I am done. :p Thanks for the advice, and the prices. Landon

You can buy the 1/2 tops for the first gen blazers new. The are around $1000. You can also buy new hatches for around $400. Double wall tops are less desireable than the single wall tops and the price usually reflects it. There are a lot of California guys selling their tops and running a soft top. If you aren't already, you should sign up as a member on CK5.com. There are a lot of guys in the Hollister area on that message board. Most tops for sale have some damage. A lot of double wall tops split down the middle. Hatches are almost always damaged, many, like mine, beyond repair.
