I glued two of the thinner gaskets together which works perfectly fine.

Cheap parts from China don't fit correctly? If the vendor's had a cheap source for parts made in the USA, they'd use them. Heck, they may even use a US manufacturer no matter the cost, but there just aren't any for most parts.
