Jim's 1966 SW BBG

I had owned this 66 3 years ago and sold it. The guy had found another truck so he called me and I luckily bought it back. It is getting so hard to find SW BBG trucks it has very little rust. My plans are to update 350 motor, automatic transmission, disc brakes , lower it and have fun .

Re: Jim's 1966 SW BBG

Put in the 3" rear lowering springs today. Had to use cutting torch on old rusty bolts. Luckily I ordered the new mounting hardware ( highly recommend) . Didn't have to undo shocks to get old springs out. Cherry picker worked well on lifting rear of frame with bed off.

Re: Jim's 1966 SW BBG

I hate when they cut speaker holes in the doors and cut dash for a big stereo. That was the first thing I did was change drivers door out to a better one. Luckily passenger door and dash was not cut.

Had to get out in 20 degree weather with snow on the ground to put new 350 motor and automatic trans in today. Lots of hooking up to do .

Re: Jim's 1966 SW BBG

Today I spent several hours adjusting drivers door hinges and latch to shut good. Also shimming fender and getting raised up. What a pain.

Re: Jim's 1966 SW BBG

Decided to pull the cover plate off the heater box . Completely full of leaves and nut shells. 2nd one I have pulled that way. I decided to change heater core now instead of when it decides to leak. The new core tubes were about 1/2 inch wider that old so had to grind out the cover plate. Typical for repo parts. The 2 nuts holding the heater box to fire wall under the dash was a bear to get to.

New transmission cross member was out of stock so I fabricated on today with C-channel. Cut channel and drill 4 holes saved $80.00

Re: Jim's 1966 SW BBG

Today I changed out the froze up emergency brake cables and adjusted . Got drive shaft with new u joints and yoke installed . Cleaned dirt from around U bolts that hold rear end housing. The U bolts are over have way rusted through very dangerous. More parts to order when does it end.

are you also going to be switching the rear over to 5lug? I see you ordered the 5 lug front disks. Truck is looking good with the upgrades.
