Very interesting 1973 Highlander truck at junkyard

Went to the junkyard today and found they had just put out this 1973 Custom Deluxe. It is an early 73, the seat belt date was 48 72. It is a Custom Deluxe, but someone loaded it up with options. I believe it is a Highlander truck. It has an option YG8 "SPECIAL PROMOTION PK", and of course you can't miss that plaid seat cover. Also interesting is the line on the SPID "DELETE REAR WINDOW M". This truck also had the special trim pieces for the back and corner of the cab. This is the second truck I have seen recently that has these pieces that are distinctly different from the later trucks. Obviously this truck has the woodgrain on the side and tailgate. Someone must know what you ordered to get this. I am also curious about the tailgate panel. It is the wide panel with woodgrain. What other years was the wide tailgate panel available? Here are the pictures.

Re: Very interesting 1973 Highlander truck at junkyard

Some times I just wonder about how some cars and trucks end up in the junkyard. I wish the interior of my truck was as nice and original as this one in the junkyard. More pictures:

Such a unique truck rotting away in a junkyard is a real shame. Looks like it has a lot of good usable parts left on it. I wish I was there... I'd snag the grill, bezels, trim, and brackets to do the grille swap on my 79!

I would pull as much interior as you can. Steering wheel looks nice. If so it would probably bring a surprising amount on eBay. It has an optional rear axle ratio. I would pull the cover and check ratio. Might be surprised what gear it has. So many cool things about that truck.

Try to get the whole truck. I cant understand how a truck like that can be sent to a scrap yard. Man I would love to have that. I have a rusted out suburban with a 454 that that truck needs!

The delete rear window code is just the bright trim delete.

She's a beaut Clark!

What a nice truck, great colors and options...big block too. Too bad it's likely seen the end of the road.

PA1 Highlander wheel covers even! I've been an enthusiast for 30+ years and I've never seen a square body highlander. Looks legit to me.

Re: Very interesting 1973 Highlander truck at junkyard

These threads bum me out. This truck is in better shape than all of my trucks and I'm fixing my junk. Those trucks are worth big bucks up here.

It’s a shame but the thread is 9 years old I’m sure it’s been picked clean and made into a toaster

Re: Very interesting 1973 Highlander truck at junkyard

When I bought my truck in 1990 it wasn't as nice as that blue one.
