We got the two inch strip tacked in place to lower the wheel opening. We finally got the Easy Grind mig wire today so we can start welding the body panels back together later this week.

Re: My suburban's Twisted Little Sister

We finished the welding on the two inch strip yesterday. Today we got started on the body panels. We started on the passenger side. The seam took some massaging to get it to line up. i guess the factory allowed some variation from front to back.

Thanks A.D. The General didn't build this thing exactly the same from front to back so we had to do some more work to make it line up. See today's pictures.

We had to make a horizontal relief cut in both drivers and passenger sides

You can' t skip ahead you might miss some of the fun

Today we got the drivers side partly welded. Then we decided to fit the wheel well so we extended the wheel center line. Then test fit the wheel well and found it had to be trimmed to fit between the front and rear braces

I will be building a fire wall but I don't think it would fit the theme of your suburban. But if you want to build something different I could help you make a roadster unibody truck out of your 'burb

Re: My suburban's Twisted Little Sister

Yesterday we finished the welding on the drivers side. Then we found that the inner fender was rubbing on the quarter panel so we cut a horizontal line on the inner fender. We used a hammer and dolly to fold the edges in a little then welded it back together.

Re: My suburban's Twisted Little Sister

We got the drivers side wheel well modified for clearance. Then started on the lip of the wheel opening. We still have some more welding to do.
