I got complements. But everyone was sweating and fanning their mouths.

I’m sure they were awesome. Green Chile enchiladas are a staple at my house. I think I’m gonna have some for dinner now. I love the heat. The bad thing about the heat is hot on the way in = hot on the way out

My wife makes tomato juice for me every summer. She gets it made up and I add the spices. I did pretty good this year but last year I got a little carried away with the Crushed Red Pepper, Cayenne Pepper, White Pepper and hot sauce. I had to add a half a can of store bought juice to every quart of homemade stuff to make it drinkable..... The daughter took some of the uncut juice home for Bloody Mary's. She said it was "Awsome"... .. I don't know, I don't drink them.

My wife makes some great soup. She puts peppers in both chicken and beef soup. we use a lot of peppers in our cooking.

A while back, she used our last fresh tomatoes to make tomato soup. I don't know what she put in it, but I may request more for supper.

Green Chile - can’t get enough. Craving a Lotaburger green chile cheese burger with fried onions and no pickles right now. https://www.lotaburger.com/

Y’all should try this. Blend chipotle sauce/salsa ranchera with sour cream and use on enchiladas, fish tacos, or as a dip. Tangy, smoky, and spicy. You can use whole chipotle’s in adobo but blend these up before mixing with sour cream.

Yep indeed. Now you got me craving lottaburger. Double meat and cheese heavy on the green Chile is my favorite. It’s a big pain to order from Blake’s with Adolf Grisham’s orders right now though. The pumpkin pie shake is in season too

One time I went into a real Mexican cafe in Taos, and ordered a bowl of chili.

They asked me "red or green" and I said "green" then when they brought it I saw everybody peering out of the kitchen door to watch the Gringo melt down

I was young back then and could eat a Jalapena pepper straight

I can picture that whole scene in my head. When my family comes to visit from VA, those light weights won’t touch any of the green/red Chile or any of the other peppers. I don’t get it. I ate jalapeños all the time when I was growing up there, Tabasco went with everything when I was a teenager/young adult. Now I still love me some Tabasco but not as much as green Chile. The hotter the better. Damn New Mexicans kidnapped me and made me one there own

I used to eat stuff hot enough that my wife wouldn't eat at the same table, that stuff would burn her eyes. I used to cauterize my hemorrhoids that way. Now I'm old and my stomach is crawling up my esophagus; no more spicy food for me.

Good for you! The part of NM where I worked, you had to live there about a hundred years before you were a local. Folks would tell me how their great great great great grand daddy came over from Spain and got a land grant from the King! I gave a young guy a ride one time and he told me that he had never been out of the valley.

I can't eat stuff as hot as I used to - just out of practice I guess.

For some reason I can eat hot peppers all day long but it's the mild ones that mess me up (Bell peppers, Pepperoncini's).

I have a friend that is an older guy. He can eat hot peppers with no side effects at all. I had some Dragon peppers and he just munched away at them like they were candy. And those things were scorching hot.

My oldest sister moved to Taos in the '70s. She became a well known silversmith/jewelry maker. Then around 1980 my youngest sister went out and learned the craft from her. My oldest sister passed away in '91. My youngest now lives in the Santa Fe area, still makes jewelry. Anyway, I have been connected with that area and it's chili powder a long time. I guess it's that heritage seeds thing. Peppers there like nowhere else! I'm glad to say that up to this point I can handle the spicy hot as well as ever. I think there are health benefits... other than that red rim thing sometimes

I was down there 1979-1980, about November through May. I usually went to Taos for groceries. I met a gal that worked at the museums there, and I would spend some time every week hanging out with her and talking. We went out and did stuff a few times. I never bought her any jewelry, though

Huh, I was there for a while early spring in '80. I met a gal who worked in the ski valley in winter and went to work on a fishing boat spring-fall. It was her and her friend. Neither looked too shabby, either. I was impressed. I imagine they were pretty good at handling themselves around men.

Wow, small world! We probably passed each other in the grocery store or someplace

There were several historic places managed by the same group, one of which was the Kit Carson house where I met this gal. She also worked at another old adobe house (can't remember the name) off the SW corner of the plaza. One time we went to a bar out on the south end of town where some other local gal was singing. She was as good as Joan Baez or Judy Collins but I guess she never went anywhere with it.

I got to go out with my friend and her boss and look through a barn full of a bunch of historical stuff that they didn't have room to display. I think I might have even helped them move some stuff with my pickup? Anyway another time we went to an old place out west of town that they were fixing up. I got to see how they made the adobe floors in the traditional way.

Her boss and his wife had sort of "adopted" my gal friend since she was from ABQ. I think they really wanted her and I to get together long term but it didn't happen, and I had to get over that.

So, what I did today not on my truck is dig up a bunch of memories

I dont get to the Taos, Santa Fe area of the state very much, that’s a pretty good hike from the four corners. Today I busted out of the land of entrapment (please don’t tell Adolf Grisham on me) and took the family and Camaro up to Durango for the day. We did some grocery shopping, walked along the animas river, and had lunch at serious Texas bbq.(not as good as Tyler’s bbq but still pretty tasty none the less) we had a pretty great day. It was nice to get the Camaro out, I haven’t driven it in at least a month and a half as it’s mostly put away for winter.

Here’s the view from the patio we ate on at the bbq joint.

I’ve had some good times in Taos. Saw a great Peter Rowan show there years ago. Spent a snowy night with a friend and his family in the Pueblo itself. Climbed the wood ladders, fired up the fire stove. That was special.

I never visited the Pueblo I was working way down about halfway between Angel Fire and Mora. Did spend a night camping out on the rim above the Rio Grande about halfway up towards Questa one time, though ...

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Tyler, I told you the story about my wife and the Harley Davidson mechanic in Farmington. On the way back home we rode through Taos, but we were in a hurry and didn't even stop. We told ourselves we would go back, but haven't marked that off the list yet.

I our spring trip works out we may just check it out.

One of my friends bought a Jeep yesterday, so I took him exploring along the Buffalo River this afternoon. My wife was wrapping presents so she hung out here at home.
