Still having problems with Oil Pressure
We took the new Pump off and it seemed fine, put a new spring in it and put it back on. It's better now but will still drop when I gun it, any ideas?

I hav BBC that drops to 5 at idle runs sweet,dont smoke,lotsa power.probably like my motor worn main bearings!

you have any baffling inside the oil Pan? sounds kinda like when you get on it, all the oil is shoved to one area and the pickup starts sucking air. Also check your drain back holes under the intake manifold. you can have alot of oil get stuck up in the valve covers and valley area when you get into higher RPMs. that's the reason I put a 7 quart oil pan on my engine. gotta keep it well supplied with oil when running 7000 RPMs and 420 horses.

I have oil pressure problems!!! The higher the rpm's the lower my pressure is. My temp fix to that is a quart of gear lube in the crank case. That's right, I have some 80w90 in my engine. Keeps my pressure up at all times. I pretty sure that the cause of my woes is a engine bearing somewhere out of spec. My fix will soon be a a diffrent engine. Try a quart of gear lube, see what it does. I have been running mine this way for over a year now. So don't be afaid.

Maybe my mechanic put too heavy of an oil in, the rebuild has about 500 miles on it now, the oil has been changed twice. It's right at the line now, maybe I'll try putting another half quart? A bigger oil pan might work. It smoked a little today, is that normal?
