Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5

Here's a little progress. The major project I still am in the middle of is the firewall. I think I'm going to do it completely smooth. There are just too many variables with me to do a bead roll in it. So here are the steps I took thus far:

before shot:

Step one was to remove the top of these supports.

Then I cut along this seem and left all the spot welds intact.

Here is the whole thing out.

I then proceeded to cut away about 6 inches of the pinch weld at time and welded it back up.

Here is a shot of it completely welded up.

In order to mate up a new piece of sheet metal, I bent the bottom lip.

This is how I did it. Yes, those are from wonderful Harbor Freight!

Three more pics of the hardlines. I am now completely finished with those. This pics shows the two tanks connected and the check valve.

I didn't think about hardlines when I did the panhard bar, but somehow, it magically worked out.

Here are two pics of the rear brakes mocked up. These are Summit brand kit that is actually SSBC. They are for an impala which has a 5x5 bolt pattern. I just had to make a new caliper bracket and they worked perfectly.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Awesome thread!!

I vote single or smooth. I also think that if you are to do one on the driver side it should be reciprocated on the passenger side.

When I bought it, I got it on sale for $380. At the current price, I might spring for a Wilwood kit??

Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5

Got the firewall pretty much done. Have to plug some holes and deal with the floor supports, but other than that, its done.

I did this in two sections just so it would be easier to work with. Here is the driver side tacked in place.

Here it is primed.

Here here it is complete. It looks a little plain-jain, but once everything is together and the motor is in, I think it will look nice.

Here is one last random picture of a patch panel I made.

I like it smooth like that. A nice canvas for the engine to sit in front of.

btw - how do you like my new avatar? Much closer to the final look.
