Gross. The wheel size in relation to the doors is funky.

Re: GM 2021 pickup

With the hot trend in retro looking sports cars like the Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger, I sure wish they would bring back the old look of the Chevy trucks. Man, what could the 50th Anniversary 2020 (styled like the 1970) Chevy trucks look like. Old truck style with modern new conveniences. I would imagine it would sell better than that Jetsons looking truck in the picture.

Looks more like a crossover SUV with a large "trunk" OR if you squint a bit it does resemble a Chrysler 300 like trukster mentioned.

Agree with both observations. Maybe they are too busy cramming in more features that they think we all want. They would be well served to spend a bit more time on design.

One factor here, is the roll-over structure of new trucks. Compare an old truck with a new one, and the most striking difference is the massive pillars and roof of the new truck. To slim those down to the older style would require exotic and expensive materials.

Re: GM 2021 pickup

I'm with tenntitans...with todays technology and engineering theres no reason they couldn't make a 1970 body style,or any older body style for that matter, and have all the safety standards required today

I agree, it is possible. It all depends on the amount of money thrown at it. Regardless, it's going to cost more than the "fat" pillars of modern trucks.

I agree though. I wish the larger manufacturers would take a page from "Icon", and reproduce a couple of old body styles. They're bound to cost more than a run-of-the-mill vehicle, but I think there's plenty of folks who'd pay for it.

We are the polar-opposite of that truck's target market. That's for the Bernie-loving, man-bun wearing, yoga-loving, metrosexual vegans out there who want something to haul pansies home from the nursery.

Re: GM 2021 pickup

Sure would be nice if one of the truck mfg's could build an actual truck just meant to haul firewood, lumber, plywood, sheet rock, tools, camping, hunting, fishing, home maintenance gear or the kid's bike or just whatever the He** that could be put in the back WITHOUT having to use a step ladder over the side. The high bed sides are just plain ridiculous looking and have been for some time. And I still don't like the huge 20 - 22 inch wheels. I'll stick with my ol '71 4x4. Doesn't get the gas mileage maybe of today's trucks but it is SO much better looking and is PAID FOR !

The more time goes by the more I appreciate the 88-98 trucks. To me they’re the best version of what you described.

Re: GM 2021 pickup

while I don't care for it or the directions new designs and trends are going, I do realize as a member of the older generation they are not designing vehicles with us in mind. We are the minority of the consumer market. Sad to see it in print but it is the truth. Remember when we were the targets of new products as young adults? It's on the younger buyers of today to accept or refuse the new products. Automakers will respond to the demands of the buying public majority.

Re: GM 2021 pickup

HOT OFF THE PRESSES!!!

That's a mighty stout design for a car. The only semblance of a truck I see is the open area where the trunk belongs. But I don't see a truck bed. I see a station wagon with the roof removed from the cargo area.

If trucks were food they'd be a sub and cars a sandwich. That thing is a panini

That looks like it has really poor rear vision. A low point in truck features. A good truck is designed to back up to it's load easier
