Step or Fleet

i have a stepside box for the 71 shortbox chevy but i like fleetsides a lot too, there is a fellow board member that might wanna swap, the only thing is that the sidemarkers are shaved, steak pockets filled and the little hole at the end where the metal rolls over is filled too, so i dunno if i should keep the some what custom looking stepside or go for a fleetside possibly....any input would be cool

I just swapped my long fleet for a long step. Even my wife likes the new look.

I personally prefer fleetsides. I think the main thing for you to consider is how easy it would be to change your handle if you go with the fleet.

My .02 cents. On shortbeds, I like stepside models the best. On LWB, I prefer the fleetside.

Both look great, what do you like better? It would probably have to painted so the body shop could put it back or maybe you'll like it like that, it's completly a matter of opinion. I would go with the fleet.

I love my stepside, so I guess with all of this other feedback you will just have to decide what you like.

Well I have a step and the stake hole are filled and the ends are filled also but I would rather have a fleet so I could carry some stuff in the bed the steps are just real skinny so you cant carry much.

Right now my GMC 2500 is sitting in pieces, I have both a long step, and a long fleetside. I'm in the same boat as you, I've been looking for pictures of both, just to see which I like better. If I go with the stepside I'll probably paint the fleetside to match and make a trailer out of it, in case I want to haul more. Anybody out there with pictures of a long step?

I prefer my fleetside because I use it to haul a lot of rubbish around, I've looked at stepsides and the back seems too small for me.

I hope to post pics of my long step soon. BTW, I also made a trailer out of my fleetside bed.

Talking most deffently step

In my opition go step all the way. please don't get me wrong fleet's have there place on the badass scale, but how many fleetside do you see compared to steps. plus stepside seem to be getting harder to find, and the body lines just screem bad to me. do a drop, and ya got a one sharp truck.
