auxiliary springs
Ive seen quite a few coil sprung 67 and 68 trucks in the junkyards with helper springs installed that look like half a leaf spring that runs up to the axle from the rear of the truck. In checking the build sheet of one of these trucks I see that it is a factory option. Are they any good? Worth picking a set up for $10?

Yes they do work well when hauling a heavy load.
$10 sounds like a deal. You will need the mounting pads that go with the springs and to install you will need to drill some holes in your frame, if your truck was not ordered with these. The only folk’s I have seen with these are the originally installed ones people, hauling heavy loads or the ones that have this option on their data sheet and are restoring their trucks back to the original configuration.

I have a set off my 72 that you can have free. I've removed the spring but you'd have to remove the brackets.

Don't forget to grap the contact plate under the axle and you need the rubber cushions, LMC has new ones. Otherwise you will get some loud slapping of the rear.
