Looking good, how are you planning to mount the off-road lights?

Thanks radrz1. As far as the lights go, hopefully find a vintage push bar like Yukon jacks or critters. I think those are really cool. What do you think?

I realize a lot of guys don't, but I like my light bar a lot. It just seems to fit the era of these Blazers. We've talked about it before, do you want me to trace out my sidebars so you can have some water jet/plasma cut? It wouldn't be too hard to build one once you have that shape.

I sent a template of my push bar to a board member to have put into a CAD file but I don't think that has occurred yet - if someone wants to tackle that, I can try to figure out who I sent them to and see if he will send the template to you.

That would be me. Sorry I've had it so long, but a long line of computer problems and other life factors have screwed it up. But I'm happy to say that I have things up now and have it about half done and will finish it by the end of the week.

Re: My Build Story, And I'm Sticking To It!

Hey critter, if you get a chance to trace it on some thin cardboard that would be great. I've got access to a plasma cutter, chop saw, and welder. With the measurement of the round tubes in the middle I could have one cabbed up in no time. A cad file wouldn't hurt either. Either or would be awesome.

I am out of town for a couple days but when I get back I will trace it out, no problem. I have the skills to draft it out in CAD or SolidWorks, but I don't have a computer with the program at the moment. Anyway, I will at least get you a template in a few days.

Re: My Build Story, And I'm Sticking To It!

Worked alot today on the Blazer and got all of the lift on it. It looks great. Looks a little lower in the back. I'll have to see what it looks like with the top off. It's a double wall so it might level out once I take the top off. Now that the lift is on I can focus on the brakes and exhaust this week. Let me know what ya'll think. Here are some pics.

Re: My Build Story, And I'm Sticking To It!

Thanks guys. I haven't worked on it yet this week. It's been HOT as hell here in San Antonio. 101+. Still, I think I'll get the brakes done tomorow. I'll post more pics soon. Later.

Re: My Build Story, And I'm Sticking To It!

More progress lately. I got the exhaust done last week and am having the rear brakes and wheel cylinders done this week. I prob could have done the brakes myself but the price was right and I just couldn't pass it up. I hope to p/u the Blazer tomorrow and post some pics. I went with 2 1/2 exhaust and flowmaster mufflers. It sounds great. The guys at the shop stabbed the dizzy in correctly and vac timed it. It is running awesome. If I pick it up tomorrow it will be the first time I drive on the streets. It will also be the longest test drive for it at nearly 20 miles. I'll keep ya'll posted. Later.

Re: My Build Story, And I'm Sticking To It!

Minor setback on Ol' Yeller. I was on my way to the shop to pick him up when I got the call. Mike at A+ automotive told me that on the last test drive he heard a noise comming from the rear diff. He told me that he wld pull the cover and ck it out. When I arrived Ol' yeller was still on the lift. I looked at the diff and saw about 2 1/2 inches of sludge and mud in it. They told that it was full of water. I would have been happy just filling it up with new fluid and driving it home. Howerver, they said the rear end wld have self-destructed way before I wld hv gotten home. Looks like I need new tensioner springs and clutches for the posi. The carrier was still in good shape as well as the ring and pinion and spider gears. I'm gonna have them replace the axle bearings and seals and clean out the entire housing. Gotta look at the positive, urrrgh, caught it before it exploded and ruined a lot more parts, and, it will be better than before and I'll be more confident driving it.

Re: My Build Story, And I'm Sticking To It!

Stopped by the shop today and the axle housing is cleaned up. No more sludge. They said they would have it back together by the end of the day, but I got too busy to check. Working in a shop myself, I decided not to call. I'll let them call me. Here ar some crappy cell phone pics.

Oh yeah, you can see the 2 1/2 exhaust done in these pics. Some progress is better than none. It does sound nice.

Have you finished your Blazer? I am redoing a 70 K5 4X4 bought new. I would like to pick your brain if it is finished.

Re: My Build Story, And I'm Sticking To It!

Dude, glad to see another San Antonio Blazer on the board. There about 7 of us on the board right now. Congrats on your purchase. You gotta take some pics and post a thread showcasing it. As far as mine, I'm almost to the point where I can drive it. I should be able to pick it up from the shop this week. Is yours a driver? What part of town you on?
