Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

http://hickory.craigslist.org/cto/3965213484.html

Once I sell my Cougar I believe I am going to buy this since I can't find my Pawpaws old one and this looks just like it...
Does anyone know where I can find a Automatic Tranny to put in this ?

Turbo Hydromatic. It would be a perfect time for a 700R4 conversion too.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

I'd buy that truck in a second. Short bed gmc. Hell ya. Good luck getting it for $850. That's a pretty low offer. Just the short bed alone is worth that if its rust free.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

She said she'd take $1,000 ....for everything she has the drive shaft and extra chrome etc..It doesn't have power steering and has disc brakes up front and drums in the back

It needs both new Rocker panels..new window..Tailgate and a good cleaning..The Truck ran before it was parked...I told her I was going to buy it , and it would be soon...she has the original title and etc...pretty excited to get it home "if" I buy it to put a transmission in it and give it a good bath,..The hood etc look good...It needs some work but if I could clean the cab out etc, pressure wash the bed good then I would be have a decent looking truck..one of the tires came off the rim and it needs to be put back on..hope its fixable...Really wanting this truck...I can have it towed for pretty much nothing ...Wish me luck guys )

Some reason it won't let me post more photos of the truck that I have...anyone have an email that I can send it to that can post them ?

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Found you a possible truck? I'd say no doubt,it's definitely a truck! That may be the first shortbed I've seen with camper mirrors. I'm surprised someone else hasn't called and bought it. You don't broadcast that you found something and give the link to it. Especially when you also broadcast that you don't have the money. I already sold what I had to have that money and this truck could be just a phone call away. And I have a TH350!
Don't be too disappointed when someone else buys it before you get the money. I hope you get it. Just sayin'.

"The Truck ran before it was parked..."
...and they removed the transmission.

"...one of the tires came off the rim and it needs to be put back on..hope its fixable..."
Man,I dunno. I was thinking this was a good find till I heard that

I know you're excited,but I just couldn't help but laugh

A grand for a truck that you can't even drive? That's a $500 dollar truck.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Heck, around here even a complete rust bucket brings over $500. Gary, how big is Whidbey Island? I think thats where my 68 gmc burb hails from.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Whidbey Island is pretty big. Only access is by ferry boat at the south and center, or the bridge at the north end. There are a lot of trucks out here in the PNW that have engines and tranny's that run and drive for under a grand. Heck I got mine for $800 bucks. I guess I'm lucky...

I've always been amazed when someone on here points to a rusted hulk that doesn't run, that is up around $2,000 dollars and eveybody says "Thats a great deal!" Again... I guess I'm lucky where I live.

No way would I pay that much for a truck with that much rust and no transmission.

But that's me.

Gary

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Well honestly, my truck isn't worth maybe 2K right now, being in the condition it's in but I love it and hopefully it'll be running soon.

Good luck getting that thing but it was a mistake to link to it on a forum.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

As much as he wants this truck, IMO it would take a 'special' person to buy it out from under him. He is 17-18 yrs old fellas.. I say lets encourage him to get it, learn from it and keep the hobby alive. The fact is, had my Pops not encouraged me when I was 17-18yrs old there is no telling where I would have ended up. He has been on this site for 8 months now and has close to 3,000 posts. He loves these old trucks and you guys should really think twice about busting his b@11s. It's the color he wants, SWB, etc. We all know 1/2 day on a Sat we could have a transmission in it and driving it around. Running, driving, buffed and cleaned up maybe a set of rallys or something and it's a $3-4k truck. The title alone is worth $1k in value.

Shrum I hope you get it brother. I still have some GMC stuff laying around. Let me know if I can help you.

I hope he gets it too, so we all can see posts and pics of what he does! I don't think anyone would buy it out from under him "especially" on this board.
