Fence row fresh 71 C10

I picked this 71 C10 up a couple of months ago. It is a true fence row find, had been sitting out in the barn lot for years. I finally got it unloaded Thursday night so I could have the trailer for Super Chevy in Memphis this weekend. Anyways, the show was a bust so I thought I would putter around on the 71. It is alive..... I still have to replace some vacuum lines, the choke pull off, spark plugs and put some transmission fluid in it. Maybe,,, a new parts chaser/shop truck..

Re: Fence row fresh 71 C10

Was Super no good? I've quit going because it just bums me out to see the people getting to enjoy their stuff and mine still sits cause I so shop busy.
Lot of guy from here think it is like Mecca and HAVE to go race there. I know some have taken loans to go to Super Chevy weekend and other take their vaca around it. One of my friends is a car parts vendor[Classics unlimited]and told me years ago that that weekend is his best of the year. Jim

I have been going since 1987, but I thinkI have about ran my course with them. Very disorganized and you can hardly get around in the swap meet for all the damned four wheelers and golf carts running around. I bought more of the board here last night than I was able to buy at the swap meet.

I don't know. I mean to build one of these for a shop truck but it just never seems to happen. I seem to like the hunt more than the prize. But, you never know.

Long bed. I got the thermostat changed out last night, think I will do the heater hoses this afternoon, just to be safe. I may try to give it a bath between knocking the 69 GMC in the head and doing some grilling. Good times.

Re: Fence row fresh 71 C10

Went on a short test run around my neighborhood, it made it. Transmission shifted, brakes stopped and the engine ran like one with a worn out Quadrajet. May throw in a new set of plugs later on today.

Re: Fence row fresh 71 C10

Just went on another trip blasting around the neighborhood (did I mention I have pretty cool neighbors) in the rain. Hell yes, the wipers work and I was listening to the local Jesus AM radio station. It is good to be me.

Oh yeah,, that baseball thingie,,, Not really my deal. I like staying out here in the shop listening to the satellite radio and beating on these trucks. Oh, and running my smokers and grills.

Re: Fence row fresh 71 C10

Well, as you all may have guessed, the 71 went to a new home last night. I have a friend who is the automotive business like myself and his teenage son felt he had to have it. He seemed pretty excited, so I shot him a hell of a deal and hopefully made his day. It gave me a good feeling seeing him drive off in it with his dad following him. You know, the whole "circle of life" or some of that other mushy crap. Anyways, he seemed happy and I enjoyed seeing a smiling teenager.

The truck is staying local and his dad has a couple of cool trucks himself, so I can see how it progresses. I think I need to console myself with a big platter of ribs....
